Position Description:

You will be part of the Americas Business Development Team working within the coverage area of the Global Client Group (GCG). The Business Development team supports new business and client service efforts of the Americas distribution team for our institutional and retail businesses. The team completes requests for proposals (RFPs), due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) and requests for information (RFIs). The team works closely with sales, client service, product specialists, compliance, legal and operations to respond to the questionnaires. We are looking to enhance our team and need someone to own the day to day management of the retail team, improve our retail process and report on the work of the team. You will also proposal manage key RFPs for the retail team. This is a critical function to the success of the Americas RFP team.

Key responsibilities will include:

Team management:

  • Day to day management of the Americas retail business development team
  • Build a training program that has all RFPs writers following the same process and enhancing their skills
  • Help shape the firm and product narratives
  • Create a process to have records maintained and updated by subject matter experts
  • Track the volumes of the team and outcomes of the work-enhance systemized report to be shared with senior management on a monthly basis
  • Understand the business priorities of the coverage organization to help prioritize and motivate the team
  • Develop knowledge of the full breadth of product that DWS offers
  • Oversee development and maintenance of Asset Management content used in preparing proposals (i.e. RFP/RFI/DDQs), or other documents for retail clients on products and services marketed by DWS
  • Ensure that the content database (Proposal Software (PMAPS)) is well-organized, current, and compliant by working with PMAPS administrator
  • Ensure company standards and styles are consistently applied
  • Improve existing content structure as necessary that meet compliance requirements
  • Clarify specific RFP questions or responses as an expert content writer to ensure overall compliance, evaluation integrity and market position
  • Perform Quality checks on RFPs. Ensure message sent out is consistent across the different RFP Writers

Proposal manager responsibilities:

  • Manage the proposal project, working closely with the relationship manager who 'owns' the opportunity
  • Produce & manage the proposal project plan, ensuring that all necessary activities are completed on time
  • Facilitate Pre-Proposal Planning meetings, with the sales team, to ensure the appropriate steps are taken to maximize the proposal's chances of success
  • Build the proposal team - identify & brief the staff who need to be involved, and ensure their focus and motivation
  • Analyze client's RFP for 'document' requirements (e.g. printing / layout / packaging / delivery requirements)
  • Facilitate the proposal strategy meeting, with the sales team and other key proposal contributors, to establish a clear strategy (based on client & competitive analysis)
  • Coach and chase content contributors as required - managing content quality reviews
  • Review and critique content as it is produced by the contributors and content managers. Ensure that the overall document tells a consistent and clear story
  • Ensure that all relevant processes are followed as required (e.g. qualification, compliance approvals), and lead or facilitate those meetings as required
  • Ensure the proposal is delivered on time, arranging and managing courier services or uploads as required
  • Lead proposal post-mortems (providing objective facilitation, and developing clear action plans)
  • Once a proposal has been submitted, identify new content that may be re-usable via the team's pre-written content library
  • Suggest, lead and contribute to projects to improve the organization's proposal management capabilities

  • Previous relevant years of experience, writing, answering and editing content used in RFPs within the asset management industry is preferred

Education/Qualification Requirements:

  • Previous years of experience; preferably including RFP writing and project management
  • BA/BS degree in related field
  • Series 7
  • Series 24 or willingness to get it within 6 months of hire
