The Collections and Recovery Risk team's mission is to help customers bring their accounts current or fairly resolve their debt.  The Collections and Recovery Risk team owns strategy and policy and partners closely with the Operations and Technology teams on implementation and execution.

The Director of the Branded Cards Collections Strategy team is currently seeking a candidate to lead the segmentation strategy team.  Core responsibilities Include:

  • Develop appropriate segmentation strategies for past due customers
  • Partner with Operations, Independent Risk, Compliance and Legal to develop plans to comply with laws, regulations and regulatory guidance to ensure we allow customers to exercise their rights while trying to mitigate losses
  • Develop new strategies for segments which balance operational expense and treatment effectiveness
  • Provide Risk oversight for customer treatments. Identify trends with potential root causes and recommended strategy changes or tests. Present proposals to senior management.
  • Conduct industry benchmarking regarding segmentation practices and controls and identify best practices to implement at Citi.  Consumer preferences and regulatory expectations are rapidly evolving.
  • Meet with internal control teams (e.g., Independent Risk, Fundamental Credit Review (FCR), Internal Audit (IA)) and with regulators to explain Collections strategies and Risk oversight
  • Manage a team direct reports and provide leadership support to contractor resources


  • Bachelor's degree; MBA or other graduate degree preferred
  • At least 7 years of strategy, consulting, analytics and/or risk management experience, ideally with consumer financial institutions
  • Strong conceptual, problem solving, analytical and technical skills - Must be able to independently solve problems, form hypotheses and complete analyses
  • Strategic and project management capabilities coupled with strong analytic and financial acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize business goals and drive results
  • Strong relationship building, communication and influencing skills
  • Strong project and time management skills; must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects
