­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Overall purpose of role The VP of Collection Management is accountable to develop and drive programs to support collections and recoveries efforts within Barclays US Consumer Bank, within full operational control and credit risk parameters.

Key Accountabilities

The specific accountabilities for the VP of Collections and Recoveries Management include:

  1. Strategy and Planning
  • Partner with risk and operational teams to develop and agree strategy and approach for collections and recoveries management representing first line business needs and requirements.
  • Accountable for the execution of the agreed plan, ensuring appropriate strategy review mechanisms are in place to monitor progress against the business plan, with timely reporting of progress/risk/issues
  1. Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Ensure that an appropriate risk appetite and risk management framework underpins collections and recovery strategy and execution.
  • Accountable for ensuring accurate, transparent and timely reporting on strategy, performance and risk profile is developed, reviewed and shared with the BUSCB ExFo.
  • Leadership and Execution:
  • Evolve operating model with cross functional partners within BUSCB and other areas of Barclays (including global Barclays Financial Assistance Transaction Cycle, and the Credit Risk area)
  • Work with cross functional team to develop KPIs and tracking, goal setting, and meeting cadence.
  1. Risk Culture:
  • Develop a strong Culture based on the Barclays Values as articulated in the Barclays Way and the tone from the top on how to "Live the Values", including strong focus to ensure appropriate understanding and mitigation of operational, credit and conduct risks.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

The VP of Collections and Recovery Management work closely with other internal areas to define and execute the agenda for collections and recoveries and will need to be comfortable with indirect management of multiple colleagues and departments. They need to develop and manage strong relationships and the ability to influence and collaborate to resolve complex business decisions, as well as strong collaboration and organizational skills to programs are being executed within agreed timeframes.

The individual will also need to be comfortable representing the agenda and results to internal tams (including the USCB Executive Committee), as well as speaking with internal parties, including regulators.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

The VP of Collections and Recovery will need to be highly analytical and have the ability to evaluate and guide quantitative work products produced by analytical teams and provide robust challenge. Multiple goals, including but not limited to short vs longer term financial and conduct risk will need to be balanced and areas of short term and long term focus will need to be regularly prioritized to maximize sustainable value to the franchise as programs and strategies are developed within the team.

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
