Network Engineer

Key Role:

Design and plan network communications systems and provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture and specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conduct testing of network design and maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, including routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gateways. Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network, work on unusually complex technical problems, and provide solutions which are highly innovative. Take a leadership role in generating intellectual capital and serve as the organization spokesperson on advanced projects and programs. Provide Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) SME support, identify information, systems, and software to be monitored, and recommend event triggering thresholds, incident response measures, Cybersecurity reporting processes and procedures, and recommended actions to implement similar capabilities across the AFSPC portfolio. Support the government to develop requirements with supported System Program Offices (SPOs) to present an optimized, data-centric, and layered Cyber defense approach.

Basic Qualifications:

-8+ years of experience with reviewing, planning, and evaluating network systems

-3+ years of experience with SIEM, IDS, and IPS maintenance or implementation

-Experience with overseeing documentation, project tracking, and reporting to management levels

-Experience with providing tactical and strategic input on overall network planning and related projects

-Experience with a variety of networking concepts, practices, and procedures

-Experience with leading a variety of complicated tasks and the direct work of others

-Ability to troubleshoot network systems and recommend improvements to the network

-Ability to rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals

-TS/SCI clearance

-BS degree

-DoD 8570.01 M IAT Level III Certification

Additional Qualifications:

-Data Communication Networking, TCP/IP Troubleshooting, Routers, and Switches, or Cisco Certification
-Certified Network Associate, Cisco Certified Design Associate, or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator Certification
