Associate I Startup Banking LA

The associate in the early stage practice isresponsible for assisting with portfolio management, client outreach, client onboarding,tracking portfolio credit/regulatory issues and supporting cross-sellopportunities. This role supports the VPs and Managing Director and involvescollaborating with cross-functional SVB teams representing credit cards,letters of credit, foreign exchange, treasury management and private banking,with the goal of orchestrating a superior client experience and maximizingsupport of client relationships.

Keyresponsibilities

  • Support VP with portfolio of early-stage clients (tech and healthcare) and in growing SVB's market share with top-tier startups
  • Screen inbound prospects, evaluate quality and fit, lead sales discussions, and articulate SVBs value proposition to convert qualified prospects into new business opportunities;
  • Maintain a deep understanding of SVBs products and services and anticipate clients need for debt, credit cards, 409a valuations, and cash management products;
  • Lead account administration by writing and updating credit documents as it relates to business credit cards and cash management products, and work with SVBs Relationship Advisors to ensure efficient and seamless client experience (including matters concerning on-boarding);
  • Assist VPs in developing unique events and programming to help ESP clients succeed and enhance SVBs brand image as the leading bank for technology startups;
  • Support the team in tracking and analyzing key metrics related to client acquisition, fundraising, referrals to other teams, and conversion of cross-sell opportunities;

Much of the work will be in collaboration with VPs andManaging Director.  The candidate shouldhave strong task management, prioritization and project management skills, andthe ability to work independently and have the availability to attendnetworking and evening events occasionally. The candidate should have anInterest in startups, investor relationships, and cross-collaboration withinternal groups.  A successful candidatewill engage in staying up to date on technology market and sector trends. 

Strong written and communication skills are essential.The candidate should approach each client engagement, electronic or live, as anopportunity to advise clients and to improve their business standing throughthat advice.  We strive to establish ourselvesas trusted advisors more than bankers, and the candidate will engage andbuild relationships with key client stakeholders to remain well-informed andable to respond to changing circumstances while appropriately balancing clientand SVB needs
