Sr. Compliance Analyst
The Sr. Compliance Analyst will report to the Senior Compliance Manager and assist in executing the Controls Assessment Plan. The Sr. Compliance Analyst will plan and conduct internal control assessments, socialize results with business units, and conduct remediation of findings.

Due to the fast paced nature of the regulatory and business environments, the individual must have the ability to quickly adapt to change and multi-task various assignments. The role requires complex research and analysis of federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify Risks: Determine the applicability of and identify risks related to regulatory requirements based on analysis of the laws and regulations that apply to the Bank.

  • Internal Control Documentation: Based on review of procedures and walkthroughs, identify and maintain an inventory of internal controls that are designed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Control Mapping: Map the documented controls to various business units, key risk areas, products, processes, and other risk and reporting dimensions.

  • Control Assessment: Evaluate the effectiveness of the internal controls by reviewing control objectives and the underlying laws and regulations for which the internal control is designed.

  • Issue Identification: Identify issues in the design of the control and work with the control owner in documenting the gaps/weaknesses in the control design.

  • Issue Management: Track the progress of remediation of control weaknesses identified by independent testing groups, self-testing, or control assessments.

  • Internal Control Updates: Update the internal control inventory based on various events such as regulatory changes.

  • Reporting: Provide reporting as it relates to the control assessment to the control owners, risk management teams, and business unit owners.

  • Risk Assessment: Work with the risk team to integrate the control catalog activities with the risk assessment processes.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of internal audit or bank corporate compliance experience.

  • Familiarity with risk identification, assessment, and management frameworks.

  • Strong knowledge of control framework and the ability to design and evaluate effectiveness of controls embedded within business processes.

  • Knowledge of risk and governance standards such as COSO internal controls framework, SR 08-8, BIS Compliance and the Compliance Function in Banks.

  • Familiarity with federal banking regulations is highly desired.

  • Ability to research and interpret laws, regulations, and guidance documents from government sources and issuing agencies.

  • Ability to assess and document process flows, data flows, and forms/document usage.

  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or equivalent. MBA or MS is a plus.

  • CRCM, CFE, CIA preferred.

  • Big 4 experience preferred.

  • Strong skills in spreadsheets and in analyzing large volumes of data.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and have good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Willingness to continue learning.

  • Excellent time management and attention to detail are critical to this position.

  • Good analytical, research, organizational, and project management skills.

  • Strong individual contributor with the ability to work effectively as a team.
