The Principal UX Designer is the inspirational force behinda high-impact team dedicated to transforming how users experience SVB. This role is responsible for driving a significant aspect of ourdigital transformation strategy. The ideal candidate is:

  • An experiencedand creative UX designer who is deeply passionate about design, product, andthe end-to-end user experience

  • An inspirationalleader who excels at collaboration and mentoring, as well as guiding diversetalent to a common goal

  • Able to breakdown complex problems and provide human-centric solutions through excellentanalytical and problem-solving skills

  • Able to workindependently, quickly and reliably in a fast-paced, creative environment witha keen attention to detail

Once Here, YouWill:

  • Lead and inspire small teams of UX Designers to follow bestpractices and deliver consistently on-brand, world-class design solutions

  • Contribute to the success and team dynamic withleadership, direction, and mentorship to elevate the design skills of overallUI/UX and graphic design teams

  • Work within an agile environment to create designassets

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and othercross functional stakeholders to understand business objectives, needs, andconstraints

  • Create high quality UX deliverables based on user goals andpriorities, including annotated wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards,mockups, high-fidelity prototypes and production ready final assets

  • Drive userresearch goals, including drafting research plans, conducting interviews,writing research questionnaires, producing usability tests and compilingresearch results to synthesize inputs into solutions

  • Provide insights to the product development team and documentuser goals, needs, motivations and pain points through user personas, use cases,and experience maps

  • Communicatecomplex design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences atvarying levels of the organization with minimal conflict and complicationsbetween collaborative and cross-functional personnel

  • Leverage user insights from user research to makerecommendations to improve the user experience and create new concepts to bringthose recommendations to life

  • Provide guidance to UI/UX style guides to support corebrand look and feel and help ensure designs stay on-brand and on-trend

  • Create future state visions that align with broaderproduct strategy and create impact for the business through a deepunderstanding of the user journey and user needs

  • Use strongstorytelling and presentation skills to communicate conceptual ideas, designrationale and the specifics of human-centered design process in all phases ofthe product development lifecycle, including product ideation and definition,UX design, and user research, detailed design and optimization


What Youll Bring:
  • A strong portfolio of work exemplifying a deepunderstanding of UI/UX lifecycle to define user experiences, visual andinteraction design through human-centered design solutions (flows, prototypes,and user feedback)

  • A collaborative Design Thinking mindset and a Lean UXapproach

  • Experiencedelivering on multiple projects in various stages of the product lifecycle in afast paced, dynamic environment

  • A mastery of the UI/UX lifecycle with deep experiencedefining user experience, visual design, interaction design, user research, anddesign principles

  • A strongknowledge of Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, or other tools forgenerating low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes

  • A history of designing omni-channel experiences,including desktop, mobile web and mobile app experiences (designing forchat-bots or IA is a plus)

  • A knowledge of current web technology capabilities andcross-device considerations

  • An ability to communicate respectfully whenchallenging assumptions and tactful style when receiving feedback

  • 7+ yearsexperience with a background in the financial services industry (preferred)

  • A Bachelors orMaster's Degree in the study of design including one of the following: Design,Information Architecture, HCI, or equivalent project/portfolio experience (preferred)

  • A knowledge of design, repository, story and backlogmanagement tools and resources

  • Experienceworking in and an understanding of an Agile development environment
