The Investment and Wealth Management Technologies (IWMT) group within Franklin Templeton Technologies is a globally distributed team comprised of technology professionals primarily responsible for managing front office applications for Investment Management, Alternative Strategies and Wealth Management lines of business. We provide technology strategy, technical project management, application development and operational support to multiple Franklin Templeton lines of business and subsidiaries globally.

Reporting within the Investment and Wealth Management Technology (IWMT) team the Lead System Analyst will be a key member responsible for owning all facets of the product functionality across several Portfolio and Order Management systems and is responsible for ensuring that it supports FTI's overall strategy and goals. We are looking for candidates who can map Investment Professionals problems and opportunities to delivering compelling product strategies and to manage the product throughout the product lifecycle. This includes defining the product vision, partnering with vendors, working with the business team to build the business case, defining and prioritizing product features, writing detailed product requirements, coordinating with multiple engineering teams to get the product delivered and managing the success of the product in production.

As such, this role will be responsible for partnering with the business and technology leadership for the purpose of setting a strategic direction for the company's next generation of front office applications and systems. The Lead System Analyst will be tasked with integrating the business strategies, business objectives, current technology portfolio, best practices, and industry practices and tools to develop the overall product roadmaps.

This role will be focused on supporting the Bond Trading operations in San Mateo and other locations including Municipal, Asset Backed, International, High Yield, High Grade and Money Market Securities. Tasks will include support of production applications with a primary focus on enhancing the existing workflows via FIX connections to third parties as well as identifying requirements, working to define solutions and supporting developers while building and testing enhancements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze Franklin Templeton's current front office systems for retail and institutional Investment Management environments and work with the larger cross-functional team to define the product strategy, operation plan and detailed roadmap.
  • Synthesize customer needs, perform market research, visit customers, gain deep understanding of workflow & usage, provide competitive insights. Help influence decision making across the business and multiple technology areas.
  • Gathers requirements from internal & external parties (clients, partners, vendors, etc.) and creates business requirement specifications, feature prioritization and business justification.
  • Prepares product impact assessment, reviews with engineering groups, estimates effort.
  • Demonstrates prototypes to interested parties, assesses usability. Prioritize and make tradeoff decisions based on the needs of the business.
  • Communicate effectively and consistently with partners, vendors, business and technical teams.
  • Analyze, manage, iterate and track the continued success of features in the product.
  • Work closely with the architecture and application development team to organize and participate in application reviews, develop best practices and ensure that standards and roadmaps are being adhered to.

  • Must have at least 5 years' experience.
