Innovation will be critical to achieving growth and expanding SVBs marketleadership, and SVB has set ambitious goals for innovation-led growth. Withininnovation we are building an Incubation team, and looking for a versatile,passionate and qualified Business Designer to help bring this to life, as weresearch and invest in new business opportunities.
This role will identify anddefine innovation opportunities, and combine the art and science ofdiscovering, articulating and launching new businesses and/or new companies inthe fintech and non-banking domains. The right person will be able to do thiswork on their own, as well as by driving partners and vendors to deliver thework at scale and pace.
Drive innovation initiatives to deliver new businesses, by doingthe following
Drivevirtual teams containing user research, design, architect and program managersto run discovery projects and deliver proposals for new businesses the bankshould enter.
Drivevendors to deliver this work at larger scale, for example vendors specializingin competitive intelligence, user research, or technical investigation orventure studios that can deliver the whole process as well as co-investment.
Togetherwith program management, manage engagements with vendors, evaluation ofmethods, selection of new vendors, resourcing and schedule
Togetherwith corporate development, construct funding proposals to top management todrive investment decisions
Forthe most justified ideas, drive launch in a lean style. either as new companiesor handover as new businesses within the bank. For new companies,
Manageand groom the pipeline of business ideas to be investigated
10+years of experience in medium-large organizations in a strategy, productmanagement, corporate development or similar role dealing with business model and/ororganizational designs
3+years of experience in small, agile environments, ideally startups, dealingwith product designers, and user researchers.
Experiencemanaging vendors, SOWs, contracts, and procurement processes.
Strongcommunication and influencing skills with all levels of stakeholders, includingexecutives
Demonstratedability to build credibility, establish rapport and maintain relationships andcommunication with stakeholders at multiple levels.
Demonstratedability to understand big picture and/or piece things together and considersboth long/short term impact of work to the whole, and can switch from detail tobig picture seamlessly.
Proactivityin reaching out to stakeholders to manage expectations and seed solutions
