The APG Investment Systems (IS) team are responsible for technology utilized by, Researchers, Portfolio Managers, Traders, Risk Managers and Investment Operations.  This technology, helps our clients generate alpha, manage beta, construct portfolios, source and manage liquidity, execute trades, and understand portfolio and enterprise exposures.  Additionally the team is responsible for the main workflows of Aladdin's investment process i.e. raising orders, checking compliance, placing / filling orders with the Street, booking trade allocations, confirming trades with counterparties, and settling transactions at custodians. 

IS Portfolio Management (PM) is a team within the APG IS team, focusing on development and support of the Portfolio Management function across the global investment teams.

As an Aladdin Portfolio Management Investment Systems developer, responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:


  • Working as part of a global team to support and develop portfolio management solutions using AGILE methodologies
  • Partner with global Portfolio Management teams to develop new tools and workflows, and enhance existing applications
  • Working on the full development stack to deliver highly scalable, high availability, concurrent and fault tolerant software systems
  • Coordinate with other team members in a multi-office, multi-country environment.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance of existing applications and deliver a high level of client service through responsiveness and accuracy

You have:

  • 3+ years hands-on experience of enterprise level, full stack Java development in a complex environment
  • Solid Experience developing UI components with web technologies such as Angular 2 or 4, HTML5, TypeScript, CSS, d3.js, NodeJS, ag-grid, Swing, Webpack, Karma, Jasmine

  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structure and Algorithm, Multi-Threading, Socket, Security, Web Services, Distributed Caching and Real-Time Messaging

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • An ability to translate real business problems into technical solutions
  • A track record of forging strong relationships and building trusted partnerships through open dialogue and continuous delivery
  • Knowledge and experience adhering to software development life cycle best practices including test driven development (TDD), unit testing discipline, agile development and CI/CD strategies.
  • Experience working with teams across different time-zones and countries
  • Strong OO skills and design patterns knowledge and implementation experience using one or more object-oriented languages (e.g. Java, C/C++, Python)
  • Experience building UI components using latest in web technologies (e.g. Angular, React) and languages (e.g. TypeScript)
  • Advanced knowledge and experience developing and working with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Sybase)
  • Experience building cloud-native applications is a plus
  • Experience developing large-scale distributed software systems and streaming systems using open source distributed frameworks (e.g. Ignite) is a plus
  • Experience developing using NoSQL and distributed storage technologies (e.g. Cassandra, HBase) is a plus
