Client Relationship Specialist

Role summary: Demonstrates full knowledge level in assigned area and is an experienced sole contributor. Anticipates, facilitates and advances Investment Counselor (IC) prospecting and sales efforts through ownership and alignment of team workflows. Responsible for accurate and compliant oversight and completion of client and account activities.

Primary responsibilities/essential functions:

  • Anticipates, executes and coordinates Investment Counselor teams business from prospecting/marketing to client management
  • Leads and oversees multiple aspects of the client relationship including cash management, distributions, contributions, asset allocation, investment actions, client/account maintenance, and client inquiries.
  • With minimal supervision, manages regulatory requirements mandated for trust companies and registered investment advisors, including trust committee review.
  • Builds rapport with clients and intermediaries to maintain a positive working relationship in order to leverage IC team.
  • Acts as the client advocate in order to retain, preserve, and deepen existing relationships.
  • Supports IC business plan and may identify opportunities for expanding relationships.
  • Communicates with clients and advisors on various account and/or transactional processes and oversees client communication materials.
  • Coordinates with internal and external teams to on-board new account relationships (information collection, documentation and approval compilation, open and fund accounts).
  • May coordinate other fiduciary responsibilities related to trusts and IRAs (i.e. discretionary distributions, valuations).
  • Provides team/department support o Oversees Relationship Associate tasks and workflow.
  • Attends client/intermediary meetings as appropriate.
  • Responds to ad hoc portfolio, regulatory, market, and investment strategy specific queries both verbally and in writing.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned

Skills/qualifications:

  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying challenges/opportunities and recommending solutions.
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills with a diverse group of associates, senior business leaders and a diverse group of individuals outside the organization.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop/maintain working relations and collaborate effectively with a diverse group of associates, senior business leaders, and individuals outside the organization.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, analytical skills and sound judgment in problem resolution of moderate complexity.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of financial industry, investment recommendations and strategies, fiduciary practices and the investment advisory and wealth planning business.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of CG mandates, investment vehicle structures, fees, different CG business models, internal policies, reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of legal contracts, trust agreements and related documentation.
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in leading/facilitating a variety of meetings.
  • Demonstrates ability to influence others.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of the business offerings and exhibits knowledge in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting the department/business group.
