Associate, Marketing Strategy
About this role
Within the Global Institutional Client Business (ICB), institutional marketing sets the marketing strategy, and develops integrated programs and channel strategies that drive prospect and client engagement and position BlackRock as a thought leader and solutions provider. The U.S. and Canada ICB Marketing team is looking for a driven and highly motivated Associate to help deliver our marketing strategy, client journeys and digital amplification initiatives across the U.S. and Canada Institutional Client Business.

Reporting into the U.S. and Canada Institutional Marketing team, this individual will partner with institutional client and product teams to set and deliver relevant and impactful marketing initiatives that engage prospects and clients and help drive pipeline growth across BlackRock's most significant institutional business priorities. Specifically, this includes creating client journey life-cycle marketing and segmentation, content strategy and syndication, third party media partnerships, and engagement measurement and ROI.

This Associate will work across cross-functional teams, including sales, product, technology & operations, marketing centers of excellence, and legal and compliance, in order to solicit feedback and ideas, build consensus and drive execution. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of one or several of the following marketing tactics: segmentation and designing journeys to engage prospects and clients at various points of the sales life cycle; familiarity with the asset management industry; an understanding of institutional sales process and the various client types represented; execution of scalable, prospect and client-facing activities; understanding of investment products and strategies.

This is a dynamic opportunity to play a key role in driving marketing strategy and tactics at one of the world's preeminent investment managers. The role also provides exposure to a wide range of investors and business leaders, many of whom are leading experts in their field, and a broad spectrum of learning opportunities for future career paths within marketing, sales and product.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support U.S. and Canada ICB business objectives through design and delivery of marketing engagements that intersect with client needs and commercial priorities.
  • Create, repackage and adapt content and messaging across a variety of marketing mediums including digital, webcasts, mass marketing emails, and advertising and syndication to drive focus to key client segment and commercial priorities.
  • Craft event narratives (in-person, digital and sponsored) that will be engaging and differentiated in the marketplace from agendas, to event collateral, to speaker scripts and talking points.
  • Produce and orchestrate in-person and virtual events from ideation to execution to amplification.
  • Liaise with product and investment teams to ensure coordination and enable idea flow to inform new content ideas
  • Align distribution strategy with contributors across the firm to ensure a robust pipeline of proprietary thought leadership in various forms to enable the delivery of client journeys.
  • Set benchmarks, collect and analyze and derive insights from key marketing metrics related to segment lifecycle journeys to improve marketing effectiveness and learn from prospect and client behaviors
  • Creatively incept sales enablement tools to engage the sales teams in client-facing activities, familiarize them with our key messages and enable and encourage follow-up
  • Coordinate with other marketing teams across BlackRock globally to be informed, and learn and leverage best practices
Key Skills and Experience:
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a high-performance team environment - adaptable, reliable with a strong can-do attitude and delivery focus
  • Minimum 4 years related experience
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to coordinate across multiple functions and stakeholders across Institutional Sales, Global Marketing, investment teams, and other content generating teams across the firm more broadly
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability and/or willingness to frame, structure, and execute projects and open-ended concepts
  • Passion for data-driven marketing, digital media, content marketing, innovation and emerging technologies
  • Experience in financial services industry preferred, preferably in a content-heavy role such as marketing or RFP-writing, or in a client-support role; a desire to learn about the markets and investing is a plus
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments without compromising high quality work in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Results-oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and comfort in working autonomously and across various teams and different levels of seniority
  • Sound and unbiased judgment, professionalism, and discretion
  • High level of self-motivation with strong integrity and ethics
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
