Our Associate role offers a unique opportunity for ambitious professionals to play a meaningful role in Jefferies' expanded technology investment banking practice, while gaining hands-on experience in M&A, Equity Capital Markets and Leveraged Finance for leading technology companies. Associates are active in day-to-day transaction execution while gaining client interaction and live deal experience on lean transaction teams.

POSITION: The Global Technology Investment Banking team is actively looking for an experienced Associate for our San Francisco office to help support the technology coverage efforts. This position will support senior bankers across all sectors and will work on a variety of transactions including M&A, leveraged finance, public equities and other advisory services.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: As an Associate in the Technology Investment Banking Group, you will rapidly assume significant responsibilities related to pitching for and executing advisory and capital markets transactions for a broad group of public and private clients. These responsibilities will include the following:
  • Creation and oversight of presentations to senior management and board members of clients and prospective clients
  • Compiling a variety of financial analyses such as valuation, M&A scenarios, and three statement operational models
  • Analyzing business plans and participating in due diligence sessions
  • Drafting private and public marketing materials such as offering memoranda, confidential information memoranda, and S-1s
  • Participating actively in drafting sessions
  • Managing client due diligence processes
  • Travel to client offices and operating sites throughout the United States
  • Oversight of Analysts on deal teams and assist in training and mentoring of Analysts

These responsibilities afford direct and active interaction with the senior executive management teams of our clients as well as senior bankers at Jefferies. Associates in the Global Technology Investment Banking Group are expected to attend and participate in client meetings and contribute to building and maintaining client relationships.

  • Either (i) a Masters in Business Administration and investment banking experience; or (ii) an undergraduate degree from a top tier institution with 3+ years of investment banking experience
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of technology and finance
  • Strong technical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong valuation skills and significant valuation experience
  • Familiarity with investment banking transaction processes
  • Ability to manage a variety of transactions and projects simultaneously
  • Resourceful self-starter, able to work autonomously and as team player
  • Live in San Francisco or willing to relocate
  • Helpful but not required: A background in technology, such as technology banking or consulting, or an undergraduate degree and/or work experience in a technology/engineering field
