Associate-C12, Technology (Venture Capital / Emerging Growth), Investment Banking (West Coast)
Citi's Banking, Capital Markets, and Advisory (BCMA) business is seeking an Investment Banking Associate for their Investment Banking Technology team based in San Francisco, California. This position will support the IB Technology group's recently developed Venture Capital / Emerging Growth coverage area. The Technology Venture Capital / Emerging Growth group's focus is to:
Advise management teams, boards, and shareholders of emerging growth companies
Assist emerging growth companies to accelerate growth by leveraging Citi's internal IT organization (i.e. Citi's innovation & accelerator lab, venture investing franchise, deep relationships with enterprises across the globe, etc.)
Help premier investment funds partner with emerging growth companies and provide bespoke financing & liquidity options to those funds and their portfolio companies.
The Investment Banking Associate is an intermediate level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the capital markets, as well as in providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. The Investment Banking Associate also serves as an intermediary in trading for clients. The overall objective of this role is to act as a strategic advisor to our clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for clients. Responsibilities:
o Assist in the execution of Citi's Investment Banking business activities
o Leverage past investment banking or related experience to enhance M&A execution and capital raising capabilities
o Contribute to building Citi's franchise
o Manage and mentor analysts by providing detailed guidance and feedback, managing information flow, and providing credit and exposure information to analyst, as appropriate
o Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency. Qualifications:
o 3-5 years of relevant experience
o Bachelor's degree in Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration Master's degree in Business Administration
o Series 79 and 63 licenses
o Experience in evaluating corporate transactions and structures
o Experience creating financial analyses
o Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
o Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
o Experience assisting with client development
o Ability to work with teams and track business development (collect research, analyze industry trends). Education:
o Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
