Responsibilities

The Assistant Vice President within Enterprise Operational Risk is responsible for providing support with the execution of the Operational Risk Management framework within the second line of defense. Enterprise Operational Risk reports into the Chief Risk Officer and in this role will work with a variety of key stakeholders throughout the business lines and corporate functions.

  • Provide guidance on the Operational Risk Management framework for front line units and key stakeholders'
  • Partner with management to identify applicable Key Risk Indicators and to coordinate root cause analysis, action plan development and implementation of needed updates
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of risks and controls and partners with the business to self-identify issues for tracking of issues and remediation plans
  • Preparation of Enterprise Risk Self-Assessments; including producing meeting presentations, co-facilitating workshops and documenting key risks, controls, issues and action plans to remediate control gaps
  • Assist with various framework components; including Event Data Collection, Enterprise Risk Self Assessments, Key Risk Indicators, Issue Management and Control Testing
  • Develop risk management reports for senior management
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to develop meeting materials for the Operational Risk team and other governance bodies
  • Support risk convergence efforts across various groups with the objective to standardize various methodologies, standards and taxonomies
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and review risk documentation such as policies, procedures, etc
  • Participate in special projects as needed
Qualifications
  • Experience in risk management at the second or first line of defense
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage several projects at once
  • Experience with risk mitigation techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytic skills and ability to develop solutions to complex problems
  • Strong teamwork and relationship building skills
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Conceptual understanding of banking/financial institution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated with organizational and time management skills
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team
