Position Description:

The Employee Relations (ER) leader will act as a trusted advisor to PIMCO’s Human Resources team, business clients, Legal and senior leadership. This newly created role focuses on a broad range of projects to continue the build of a recently created ER function as part of the wider modernization of PIMCO’s HR department. Along with the Head of HR and senior HR leadership, this role will be responsible for creating scalable global ER strategies and programs for the business to develop the next phase of the ER function. From thinking through ER-related processes to creating the workflow for ER collaboration with the HRBP function and internal/external counsel, the focus will not only be on working through situational ER issues, but also challenging, implementing and improving ‘how’ this is done. The position will be based in Newport Beach but will have global responsibility across all of PIMCO’s worldwide offices

Acting as the senior functional lead for ER globally, to continue the design and implementation of the ER framework, including developing the vision, strategy and continuing evolution of the ER model. PIMCO is looking to build a world-class function, therefore this role will provide recommendations for best practice design and delivery, leveraging cross-industry knowledge.

As part of the build, this role will provide counsel, support, and execution (where required) on the full spectrum of ER including:
  • Collaboration with HRBP’s to create and implement change management strategies and communications in support of org design and changes as appropriate.
  • Oversight and maintenance of ER procedures and practices to ensure compliance, enhance the employee experience, and promote company values
  • Case management support for senior separations, investigations, etc. and oversight for day to day supervision of team activity
  • Development, socialization and rollout of ER processes, guidelines and practices.
  • Leveraging new HR technology systems to support case management, reporting and documentation
  • Analysis of patterns seen in employee concerns and proposing appropriate solutions to management.
  • Learning PIMCO’s risk appetite (including management / support for investigations).
  • In partnership with HRBPs, inform the future ER related training needs.
  • Oversight and responsibility for immigration process and vendor support

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's and/or relevant Masters degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent work experience
  • 15+ years of progressive investigatory or employee relations experience with at least 10 years of people leadership experience. Experience of building strong team capability and trust, fostering an environment of empowerment
  • Financial services industry experience a plus but not required
• Experience working in a matrix organization, effectively collaborating across functional areas and exposure to global offices to ensure that ER initiatives align as appropriate across the broader organization
  • Deep familiarity with US federal and state employment laws, and the broader Legal and cultural framework including standard methodologies in conducting workplace investigations
• Strong organizational and project management skills with high attention to detail
  • Commercial and creative thinker - experience of strong evidence based problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and an intuitive sense of business acumen
  • Experience working with HR Information Systems (Workday, Service Now, etc.) and case management software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and lead from the front with a bias-to-action, results-oriented approach to work; willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team
  • High EQ and emotional maturity team player; strong collaborator, straight-forward with strong work ethic and high integrity
  • Ability to interface and partner with HR and non-HR stakeholders to achieve results
