IMS West Director

As SVP of running the IMS business for the top tier clients of the Bank, the IMS West Director role will be responsible for delivering Operational Excellence, along with growing the business and providing thought leadership. You will be responsible for setting and implementing a vision and global strategy to drive differentiated client engagement and overall customer experience. You will maintain deep awareness of our industry and organizational context, while ensuring that State Street provides innovative and agile responses to client needs and competitive pressure. You will be responsible for developing annual business plans and coordinate activities with senior management in other areas of the organization. This role may require representation of the organization at industry associations, exchanges, government and regulatory bodies.

  • Works with key senior and executive management to develop the IMS Global Operating Plan.
  • Responsible for oversight of financial management methodologies and control.
  • Works with division Comptroller in evaluating the financial position of the Division.
  • Responsible for driving increased margin and profitability across the business.
  • Develops strategic business plans collaboratively with peer management team to drive to specific financial results.
  • Evaluate business opportunities, e.g. deal offering and prospective contracts, for financial impact and to develop negotiation strategy.
  • Participate, under the direction of the business managers, in the evaluation and negotiation of new business pricing.
  • Participates with operations managers in determining resource requirement for new business integration.
  • Development and oversight of management reporting of key risk and performance indicators.
  • Evaluate client management methodologies for revenue and resource utilization tradeoffs. Develop tools to monitor individual client profitability on a risk-adjusted basis.
  • Responsible for tracking and oversight of Client profitability reporting.
  • Responsible for Vendor Management, including Offshoring relationships and activities.
  • Ensures Business Continuity Plans are developed, current and tested for the business.
  • Oversee, manage and evaluate Risk & Compliance programs for adequacy to maintain business health.
  • Oversee and coordinate regulatory and audit reporting / responses.
  • Evaluate General Management Infrastructure and Facilities Management to enhance and streamline as needed to ensure smooth day-to-day operation within the group.
  • Monitor IMS NA / AP adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ensures adherence across the business with all internal policies, programs and control practices.
  • Working with The IMS Directors of Operation and Corporate Risk Management, develop and oversee risk management for IMS to ensure appropriate management of regulatory, compliance and operational risk.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Business or Finance required, MBA strongly desired.
  • Minimum of 15 years of directly related financial services experience, with international financial services experience required. Investment Management and Global Custody experience desirable.
  • A solid knowledge of Fixed Income and Equity Securities and the Investment Industry strongly desired.
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of demonstrated management and leadership ability. State Street experience strongly desired.
  • Client / Customer service experience at a senior level is highly desirable.
  • Vendor management and contract experience desired.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and management skills required.
  • Ability to effectively present verbal and written communications in a clear and concise manner.
  • Extensive experience in client and business management within Investor Services marketplace.
  • Proven track record in the development of process solutions to drive operating excellence and client satisfaction.
  • Extensive experience in change management.
  • Extensive experience in project management of virtual teams and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience developing successful relationships with a variety of clients, vendors and partners including required negotiations.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
