We are looking for two Consolidation Specialists. These will be 12-month fixed term contract roles, with the potential to become permanent based on business needs.

This role is part of the Aviva Finance Operations (AFO) team reporting into our Chief Finance Operations Officer, within a highly effective and agile team managing resources and providing service excellence to the rest of Aviva’s Finance function. This team, under the leadership of our global process owners, are responsible for our core global Finance operational and reporting production processes.

The AFO Consolidation & Reporting team generates the Aviva plc IFRS financial statements and notes, Solvency II Quantitative Reporting Templates (QRTs) and narrative reports. In addition, it runs the Group consolidation process and produces analysis to give confidence to senior business partners around the quality of the accounts. We see this opportunity as a chance to be a part of the evolution of this team.

You could be an ambitious qualified accountant with demonstrable post-qualified experience, ideally gained within a large insurance company environment. You will have a strong mix of change agility, technical accounting and communication skills, with a keen interest in developing streamlined end to end processes.

This position is hugely dynamic, and while you will need to be comfortable with dealing with a broad spectrum of responsibilities and tasks, it will provide you with a diverse range of development opportunities and a strong position to progress your career within Aviva. What are the duties & responsibilities?

You will support the senior managers in the:

  • Analysis of consolidated data and oversight of controls to give comfort over the quality and accuracy of Aviva plc accounts and regulatory returns
  • Implementation of change within the team, championing and leading continuous process improvements
  • Consolidation of the Group financial data and generation of financial statements and corresponding notes
  • Generation of quarterly and annual QRTs
  • Delivery of financial statements, narrative reports and analysis to Aviva Finance Corporate within agreed timelines
  • Organisation & management of offshore resource
  • Briefing & communication with markets, internal and external business partners

What skills & experiences are we looking for?

  • Qualifications at degree level or equivalent
  • Qualified Accountant
  • Strong knowledge in financial/regulatory reporting and accounting skills
  • Insightful analytical review experience, with the eagerness to follow through
  • Strong IT skills and systems knowledge (Excel, Magnitude, Financial systems)
  • Excellent communication skills – the ability to communicate across all levels and across different geographies
  • Experience of implementation of change and continuous improvements
  • Ability to work independently and on your own initiative, resolve issues where appropriate and know when to intensify
  • IFRS or Solvency II experience; ideally in the financial service sector and large companies is desirable but not necessary
  • Corporate experience of cultural and political awareness
  • Financial Systems experience, particularly Excel, Oracle and Magnitude
