The Role:
The Finance Change function is responsible for the delivery of specific major scale transformation programmes and/or multiple projects within Finance. Providing support for major group-wide initiatives as required which will change over time depending on delivery and business requirements

This is a permanent opportunity which will begin working remotely and move to a blended, flexible work pattern split between your home and office .

Key Work Level Accountabilities:
Manager or Expert:
  • For people managers, accountable for managing and motivating others to ensure quality of delivery to customers and stakeholders
  • For technical specialists, accountable for delivering expert advice or service, using specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise
  • Applies judgement to deliver outcomes, evaluating a range of potential solutions, considering the impact for customers, cost and risk
  • Manages conflicts that may impact delivery
  • Challenges upwards given knowledge of delivery and awareness of complex systems and the broader picture
  • Identifies and anticipates need for changes to continuously improve quality and efficiency of output
  • Manages resources and risks using expert judgment, know-how and experience

Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • Supporting the Programme Manager in the delivery of a major workstream in a fundamental change to the organisational structure
  • Working with Senior Management, being delivery focussed but sensitive to conflicting priorities and dependencies
  • Ensuring timely delivery, highlighting and escalating external dependencies, risks and issues, identifying pragmatic approaches, when required, providing clear communications in appropriate degrees of detail
  • Lead teams through full programme lifecycles (initiation, design, build, test, implementation and review)
  • Providing excellent stakeholder engagement to ensure stakeholders informed and able to make required decisions
  • Organising programmes into work-streams, development of plans, identification and management of dependencies
  • Accurate, timely & effective status reporting delivered to central PMO and key stakeholders
  • Effective risk & issue management enabling early identification and appropriate resolution or mitigation action
  • Effective management of uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Ensuring change governance is used effectively to control the safe progression of projects at key points in their lifecycle to reduce risks to delivering on time and on budget
  • Effective use of 3rd Parties to support delivery as agreed with the Head of Change and sponsors
  • Effective budget management at a programme or project portfolio level including estimating, forecasting, analysis and the authorisation of spend
  • Matrix management of business resources assigned to projects

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Experience of managing 5+ projects successfully, ideally within a programme or portfolio environment
  • Managed projects with a duration of over 6 months, a budget of £500k + and staffing levels of 5+
  • Experience of leading the delivery of multiple large projects involving complicated dependencies and ambitious timescales
  • Proven experience of designing and deploying effective project /portfolio governance structures
  • Managing a team incorporating project staff and business SMEs
  • Financial Services experience essential
  • Sourcing 3rd party delivery support
  • Able to understand complex business requirements and identify different approaches to achieve successful outcomes
  • Highly effective planning skills at appropriate levels for Senior Management and delivery teams
  • Effective budget control skills
