The Role:
The M&G plc Finance function has four strategic priorities:
Supporting the financial strength of the business by successfully balancing the competing demands of commerciality and prudence in a well governed and controlled environment Delivering clear and incisive decision support, through commercially focussed business partnering and by providing transparent, risk based advice underpinned by a fully embedded materiality framework Creating a truly agile Finance function, which is responsive to changing market conditions and client requirements Ensuring best in class service delivery through robust service management and through the delivery of efficient and optimised processes

This Finance Assistant will sit within the Shareholder Valuation, Capital Reporting team and will contribute to the achievement of one or more of these outcomes in order to deliver the vision for Finance.

This is a 9 month fixed term contract opportunity and will begin working from home and then have a blended work pattern from home and from either our Craigforth, Edinburgh or London office.

Work Level Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for delivering a quality service and product to customers and stakeholders
  • Focuses on quality of delivery to achieve clear outputs within guidelines and precedent
  • Runs the organisation's processes and systems following pre-defined procedures
  • Adapts to change, responds with initiative and make suggestions for improvements to own work and processes

Key responsibilities for this role:
The role offers the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of Actuarial work supporting the Shareholder Capital Reporting Manager, including:
Production of accurate and well explained PAC and M&G plc Shareholder capital generation results for external reporting including;
  • the capital and risk margin profit and loss analysis for Solvency II (Internal Model and Standard Formula) and Economic capital;
  • calculation of capital overlays to Internal Capital Model results;
  • Production of Capital QRTs.
  • Production and analysis of Stress & Scenario Testing results for both PAC and M&G Shareholder business including Core Disclosures, PRA Market Sensitivities and those to support Risk Appetite, ORSA and Business Planning.

Key knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ideally previous experience within a SII reporting team
  • Able to disseminate quality information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to develop a broad base of relationships with key contacts across Finance and with key business stakeholders
  • Strong experience of using Microsoft applications, in particular Excel
