Network Support Engineer - Voice
An excellent opportunity has become available to join a rapidly expanding Engineering team as we continue to build our in house capability.

We are looking for a Network Support Engineer with a focus around Voice / telephony infrastructure.

You will provide configuration, implementation, and support of the network infrastructure, covering the Data Centre, workspace, wide area network and cloud technologies.
To cover all aspects of network operations, including LAN switching and routing, Wi-Fi, firewalls, load balancers, proxies, traffic management and monitoring / management toolsets, as well as voice and unified communication technologies.

Candidates will be expected to undertake a variable amount of 'out of core hours' work and will partake in a 24x7 standby rota for incident response / resolution.

About the role
The Network Team is a small highly technical team tasked with ensuring that Quilter's network is available, performant, secure and supportable. The team work closely with other support teams, other service providers and management functions.

The role will be required to implement, configure, support and operate the entire network estate, however more specifically:
  • Core Technology Platforms
  • Data Centre, campus and wireless LAN technologies
  • WAN services (point to point, VPN, MPLS)
  • Firewall
  • Load balancers
  • Proxy appliances / services
  • Remote access
  • Monitoring and management
  • Voice infrastructure and protocols
  • Unified communications technologies

Automation
  • Automation of administrative activities to reduce effort and improve reliability

Management Information / Reporting
  • Contributing to the creation and maintenance of high quality data sources for IT capacity and asset management information

Operational / Technical Best Practices
  • Contributing best practices to the operational running of the network estate
  • Providing best practices input into the technical design process

Incident Resolution & Continuous Improvement
  • Working with the IT Operations team, providing technical input and expertise to the incident resolution process
  • Providing input for improvement to technology and process in the post-incident follow-up process


About you
Ideally you will have a bachelors degree or equivalent.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a depth of knowledge and practical experience in the following areas:
  • Voice / telephony infrastructure (preferably Avaya / Mitel)
  • Voice and collaboration endpoints, controllers and protocols (e.g. Polycom, MS Teams, SIP etc.)
  • Network (Data Centre / campus / WLAN) support and operations (typically CCNA or equivalent level)
  • Firewall and load balancer experience
  • Monitoring and management tools
  • Incident management
  • Third party supplier operations (WAN / ISP etc.)
  • IT Security controls
