Lead Agile Programme Manager, DWP Digital: Up to £81,265, 20%+ pension contributions, great benefits, flexible working and work life balance

If you're creative and curious to learn, want to be empowered to make decisions and challenge the norm, and want to bring BIG ideas to a MASSIVE digital challenge then you'll love it here. And we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for a Programme Manager with deep knowledge and experience of Agile to join our growing community of experts and become a key part of one of the biggest and highest-profile digital transformation programmes in the world.

As a Lead Agile Programme Manager, you will work at the centre of our recently-formed, trailblazing, Identity & Trust Service Delivery Team

You will oversee the management of a number of Identity & Trust related products and lead the individual Agile Delivery Managers attached to these products. You will ensure that the wheel of each of these co-dependent products continues to turn at the right pace, and that we achieve our goals by using the right tool or method from your Agile kitbag.

In DWP Digital we are diverse, we lead in driving change, we want you to be yourself at work, and we champion that every day. Come join us!

You and your role

DWP are leading across government on identity management including projects such as Attribute Exchange and Consent Management. Our team asks our users, whether they are claimants, customers or other organisations and public bodies, "Do I know who you are?".

Lots of people want and need access to the information DWP holds. How do we make it safe and simple to identify a user? How do we know they are who they say they are?

You will be part of the team solving the question of identity and authorisation for citizens and organisations. You'll be making products and services transparent and accessible to the people that need them most, to your friends, family and neighbours.

We use innovative approaches such as user centred attribute exchange, consent modelling, and prevention of fraud and error through digital enablement, and we're at the cutting edge of identity and authorisation technologies.

You should have experience in a number of varied and challenging environments. Shorter term appointments in a number of areas would be more beneficial than one area for a prolonged period of time. We're looking for depth of experience over length of experience.

This is a real opportunity. Our Agile Delivery Managers will model and mould future ways of working, taking us from having teams that deliver services to teams that own and deliver outcomes without fear of failure.

If you're anything like us you'll be proud to say you work in DWP Digital. And like us you'll believe in the transformational power of technology to help people across the UK, including some of the most vulnerable in society, achieve better outcomes.

What are we looking for?

  • You have managed large scale Agile Programmes and have experience of large scale agile delivery.
  • You will have experience in managing multiple programmes at the same time.
  • You have experience of managing and engaging with Senior Stakeholders.
  • It would be great if you have experience working in large organisations and using agile methodologies within these organisations.
  • Experience in identity management tools and software would be an advantage
  • It would help to have a technical understanding of conversations being held by Delivery Managers but not essential.

Where you'll work

You'll join is in our brilliant digital hub in Sheffield. The home of our Identity Services team, it's a modern, vibrant workplace that was designed for and by members of our digital community. We provide the latest tech and tooling and foster a collaborative culture to help our agile, multidisciplinary teams think big and try new things.

You will work alongside people who care passionately about public service, making a difference and delivering for our customers. DWP is the UK's biggest government department with over 80,000 diverse and brilliant people on our team.

We are an equal opportunity employer and we welcome applications regardless of age, gender, race or sexuality.

In return for your skills we offer competitive salary up to £81,265, a brilliant civil service pension, and a generous leave package.

We also have a broad benefits package built around your work-life balance which includes:

  • Flexible working
  • Family friendly policies
  • Volunteering and charitable giving
