DevOps Automation Engineer

  • DevOps Automation Engineer for global financial crime case management application

Role Purpose
  • Implementation and monitoring of DevOps CI/CD pipelines as part of end-to-end IT delivery, including automation of environment delivery, code testing and releases

Key Accountabilities
· Providing technical expertise for Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and automated release management
· Technical leadership in working with infrastructure teams and pod engineers to deploy automation improvements
· Providing operational expertise across technologies including Jenkins, GitHub, Selenium, Ansible, for Java applications on Linux and Oracle database
· Ensuring incorporation and testing of non-functional requirements including meeting necessary controls (e.g. Security)
· Working with Ops, Dev and Test Engineers to recover from operational issues, and providing out of hours support for product releases

Major Challenges
· Implementing process improvements and maintaining system stability whilst continuing to deliver business value
  • Overcoming application limitations in delivery of automation

· Experience of implementing and supporting of DevOps CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub, Ansible, Python, configuration management tools)
· Unix/Linux experience & shell scripting
· Strong SQL knowledge
· Able to lead and own technical delivery of automation
· Experience rolling out improvements of technical software delivery processes
· Able to identify application reliability and availability improvements, and establish and build solutions to drive improved experience
· Demonstrates teamwork, collaborating with varied technical and non-technical resources
An advantage but not mandatory:
· Oracle
· Scrum/Kanban, JIRA/Confluence
· AppDynamics or similar monitoring software
· Knowledge of web services & tools e.g. Postman
· Experience of BAE NetReveal
· Java, Javascript

Location is Sheffield, minimum 3 days/week.
