These Senior physical security specialist roles present an exciting opportunity to work with Digital leaders within DWP and across government as part of our 17,000 strong DDaT profession.

And most crucially, to help us Deter, Detect, Deny, Delay and Defend DWP assets.

You and your role

As a Senior Physical Security Specialist you will ensure the delivery of Security and Resilience insight and provide expertise to business managers across DWP and/or wider-government, by providing leadership and management to the Physical Security Group, and strong stakeholder management, with regard to physical, personnel and cyber security controls, monitoring and incident response.

The Senior Physical Security Specialist will ensure physical, personnel and cyber security issues, risks and incidents are triaged, actions prioritised and issues escalated through agreed routes, other duties include:

Balancing resources to ensure consistency of service and ensure physical, information and cyber security and resilience expertise is delivered across the business

Lead, inform and escalate physical security assessments; identify strategic solutions, and assure the current and future status of physical security or resilience capabilities across the organisation.

Lead physical security engagement with regional managers to understand how their project and service deliverables interact with wider business needs

Essential Criteria for the Senior Physical Security Specialist:

Knowledge of security industry standards and control frameworks such as the ISO27000 series and Data Protection Act.

BCS Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP), or equivalent qualification, knowledge and/or experience of physical, technical and environmental security controls, information security management, information risk, people controls, software development/lifecycle, and disaster recovery.

An understanding of an Information Security Management System (ISMS) and control frameworks such as ISO27000 series and Data Protection Act, or equivalent knowledge or experience of how to deploy security controls and business improvements to harness good practice in information management and defend against information security risk and cyber-attack.

Experience evaluating the status of physical security and/or resilience threats and response capabilities, including the selection, implementation and management of security processes and controls to reduce the risk of information loss across the business.

Where You'll Work

Mirroring the geographical dispersal of DWP operations, and corporate hubs, our team will work across over 750 sites with each individual responsible for supporting over 40 sites, varying in complexity from small job centres to large corporate hubs and call centres. The location for this role is therefore national and applicants will be considered from anywhere in the UK
