These physical security specialist roles present an exciting opportunity to work with Digital leaders within DWP and across government as part of our 17,000 strong DDaT profession.

And most crucially, to help us Deter, Detect, Deny, Delay and Defend DWP assets.

You and your role

The Physical Security Specialist role is integral to how the Department will address its current and future security and resilience needs, acting as security and resilience ambassadors across DWP.

You will work with and support business managers to enhance physical, personnel and cyber security protection within the business, and for its information assets.

As a Physical Security Specialist you will use your specialised and evolving physical security skills and knowledge, covering the breadth of the Security & Resilience function and DWP business, to provide:

  • Physical security surveys and action plan monitoring
  • On the ground risk assessment support
  • Security incident handling support
  • Support to security and resilience education and awareness programmes.Knowledge of security industry standards and control frameworks such as the ISO27000 series and Data Protection Act.

In return for your skills we offer competitive salary up to £32,844 a brilliant civil service pension, and a generous leave package.

We're a friendly welcoming team and we'll work hard to help you get settled in as quickly as possible. Mirroring the geographical dispersal of DWP operations, and corporate hubs, our team will work across over 750 sites with each individual responsible for supporting over 40 sites, varying in complexity from small job centres to large corporate hubs and call centres.

The location for this role is therefore national and applicants will be considered from anywhere in the UK

Essential Criteria for the role:

BCS Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP), or equivalent qualification, knowledge and/or experience of physical, technical and environmental security controls, information security management, information risk, people controls, software development/lifecycle, and disaster recovery.
