Financial Audit IT Executive

Market leading growth in our Advisory Service Delivery team has created opportunities for new teams to be developed in our Newcastle Service Delivery Centre . The opportunity

The rapid evolution of technology and the risks related to this regularly make headline news. The potential impact from threats ranging from external attacks to internal rogue trading, makes the need for IT Risk Assurance an item of concern.

We're currently growing our Financial Audit IT team to help meet increasing market demand, reflected in several years of double digit growth. Our projects typically involve managing multiple stakeholders and require you to give the best advice to our clients using your knowledge and experience to provide the best outcomes.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Financial Audit IT Executive in our Advisory Service Delivery team, you will be working with global EY teams to deliver high quality work to our clients, which will primarily be from the financial sector. You will help our clients gain comfort by using your technical knowledge of IT risks and controls. You will work with the leadership team to speak directly with clients to provide them with advice and recommendations. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of Financial Audit IT projects to support clients to design and assess the effectiveness of their IT risk and control mechanisms.
Client Responsibilities
  • Assist with audit planning, creating test procedures (where required) and testing IT controls
  • Work effectively as a team member sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress
  • Assist with the mobilisation of audit teams
  • Support engagement management activities such as finance tracking, billing, resource management
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel, whilst building strong internal relationships within Advisory and across other services
  • Support bids and proposals for new projects and client opportunities
  • Assist in preparing reports and outputs that will be delivered to clients and other parties
People Responsibilities
  • Develop junior members of the Financial Audit IT team in audits, through effective coaching and mentoring
  • Contribute to people initiatives including training, buddying with new joiners etc.
  • Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills
  • Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures
  • Contributing to the development of the Financial Audit IT team by sharing knowledge, leading by example and helping team members to develop.

  • Ability to multi task and plan effectively

To qualify for the role, you must have
  • A strong academic background to degree level or equivalent experience in several the following areas:
    • IT external audit support
    • IT internal audit
    • Third party reporting, e.g. SOC1, AAF 01/06, SOC2
    • Experience of the IT elements of regulatory reviews (e.g. Sarbanes Oxley 404, Basel III, etc.,)
    • IT project governance and management
  • Experience working for a professional services consultancy firm or blue chip industry firm in IT external audit, IT internal audit, or IT risk management is highly preferred
Ideally, you'll also have
  • Recognised (or working towards) professional qualification such as CISA, CISM, CISSP
  • Solid IT and/or technology background
  • Experience and understanding of Financial Services
  • Creative, independent with good problem solving skills
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication and writing skills
