DWP's Digital Workplace Project is looking for a talented Senior User Researcher to play a key part of one of the UK's biggest and most high-profile digital transformations.

We're looking for a talented Senior User Researcher to join DWP's Digital Workplace project with experience of planning, designing and leading research at a strategic level to play a key part of one of the UK's biggest and most high-profile digital transformations. Making use of the latest research methods and up to date tools at your disposal, you will turn research insights into recommendations to the most important of the departments goals and delivery outcomes.

What is Digital Workplace?

Over the last two years diverse DWP Digital teams have established Digital Workplace, an agile and multi-disciplinary service that supports over 84,000 employees, using more than 150 distributed cloud applications, operating out of more than 800 UK sites, and powering digital products and services used by more than 20 million people across the UK.

You and your role

You will be an experienced practitioner who is capable of planning and leading user research activities across large and complex projects and services.

An expert in problem definition and selecting the appropriate research strategies to tackle issues and understand user needs, you will help champion a user-centred, evidence based approach to formulating strategy and vision, both across the User Research practice and the teams you are engaged in.

You will also have management and coaching responsibilities, aiding the development of Associate User Researchers and User Researchers.

This role will be focusing on understanding our DWP colleagues.

We are especially interested in applications if you:

  • Have experience of, and can help teams adopt, a wide range of user research methods.
  • Can plan user research for services with challenging user needs and complex user journeys.
  • Can advise colleagues on choice and application of research methods to assure best practice.
  • Have experience understanding organisational goals and challenges and can align research activities across teams to inform policy and proposition.

Do I need any qualifications?

Ideally, you will have a degree or professional qualification in Market Research/Social Science/Research Human Computer Interaction/Usability/Cognitive Psychology or equivalent professional experience.
