What you'll be doing

We are modernising our infrastructure using Google Cloud, building platforms that are secure, resilient for customers, and simple and efficient for engineers to use.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will work as part of a collaborative, product-focused team to design, build, operate and improve cloud infrastructure and services. You will contribute to meaningful products, support continuous improvement, and help deliver reliable and scalable solutions that make a positive impact for customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and improve cloud infrastructure and platform services
  • Write, review and maintain Infrastructure as Code, ensuring security and quality standards are met
  • Support the operation of existing products and services, including incident response and customer requests
  • Develop, test and release new features and enhancements for existing platforms
  • Manage and track work through agreed delivery tools and processes (e.g. Jira)
  • Use automation and AI-enabled tooling to improve efficiency, reliability and cost effectiveness
  • Identify opportunities to improve products, services and operational processes
  • Contribute to planning and roadmap activities
  • Actively invest in learning, development and knowledge-sharing
  • Support and mentor junior engineers, helping to build an inclusive and supportive team culture
  • Provide cover for the Lead Engineer when required

What we're looking for
  • Experience designing, building or supporting cloud-based infrastructure solutions
  • Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform or equivalent)
  • Experience with version control and collaboration tools (e.g. GitHub or similar)
  • Understanding of engineering practices and industry best standards
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments (e.g. Scrum or Kanban)
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD
  • Ability to communicate clearly, listen to different perspectives and contribute constructively
  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues or bottlenecks

And any experience of this would be useful:
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Terraform
  • Github
  • Firewalls
  • VPC SC
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • Organisation policies
  • Networking controls
  • Automation, platform tooling or AI-enabled capabilities
  • Supporting, mentoring and developing other engineers

This is a place for you

Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities and we're committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.

We offer reasonable workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns. And, as a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role with a disability, long-term health or neurodivergent condition through the Disability Confident Scheme.

We provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers. Just let us know what you need.

We also offer a wide ranging benefits package, which includes:
  • Pension contribution of up to 15%
  • Annual performance-related bonus
  • Share schemes, including free shares
  • Flexible benefits that support different lifestyles
  • 30 days' holiday, plus bank holidays
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
