Caspian One require an experienced Data Scientist to work on site for a large retail and capital markets bank, working on an Anti Money Laundering and Financial Crime transformation programme. Please note: This is a Manchester based role with travel to London - however, they may well be happy to consider someone who is London based that is happy with going to Manchester twice a week!

Caspian One require an experienced Data Scientist to work on site for a large retail and capital markets bank, working on an Anti Money Laundering and Financial Crime transformation programme.

The organisation recently implemented a new Transaction Monitoring System and this role is about refining and tuning that system and building s clear understanding of customer behavior. The Data Scientist will also be called upon to contribute to the set up of a brand new Financial Crime Prevention Analytics Function. 

This is also an advisory based role - you will be the only Data Scientist in this area so they will be looking for you to advise on all aspects of the project above, what works best, what the results may show, and working closely with financial crime experts on appropriate mathematical and statistical approaches to identify customer monitoring thresholds. 

Other responsibilities will include performing data analysis to develop an understanding of customer transactional behaviour, the application of supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms to transactional data sets to establish what is "normal" and what is "unusual" behaviour. 

You will also need to be able to present your work in a visually recognizable form to financial crime experts, documenting the methodologies and approaches taken whilst building a relationship with the bank-wide technology data analytics function. 

Essential Requirements:

Experience working as a Data Scientist within a financial services organisation. 

Ideally, some knowledge of financial crime is advantageous. 

Machine Learning and AI skills and experience with strong programming language experience with Python, SQL, etc. 

Database skills - ideally SQL

Visualisation skills for reporting purposes - for this you can use Tableau, Qlikview, Power BI, Business Objects, etc. 

Ideally, you will have a Masters degree and/or Ph.D. in Mathematics, etc.
