Finance is primarily responsible for financial accounting, JGAAP & USGAAP reporting to Head Office, Regulatory Reporting to Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Bank of England (BoE), Financial Planning and Management Reporting, Treasury Finance Reconciliation & Reporting. Taxation and managing bank-wide SOX Programme to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Finance also proactively support and mentor Finance departments of other EMEA units in areas of Accounting, Taxation and Internal controls.


Main purpose of the role:


  • To be an active member of the Accounting Policy team supporting both Bank and Securities businesses


Key responsibilities:


In this role, you will be responsible for accounting policy across MUFG’s banking arm and securities business under a dual-hat arrangement. Under this arrangement, you will act and make decisions on behalf of both the bank and the securities business, subject to the same remit and level of authority, and irrespective of the entity which employs you.


  • Become an active member of a small team of technical accountants providing guidance and advice on technical accounting matters to both transactors and back office functions
  • Partnering with Front Office to advise on the accounting implications of their business and actively ensuring that they are aware of all forthcoming accounting changes and their impacts
  • Contribute to projects which incorporate accounting topics
  • Support the new product assessment process, liaising directly with front office functions to support structuring activities, advise on the impact of new transactions on the company’s accounts, and co-ordinate responses across the finance function
  • Contribute to, and provide, training on technical accounting matters across the firm
  • Active engagement with external auditors on all policy matters
  • Contribute to the issuing or update of local accounting policies under IFRS


Work experience:


  • Relevant experience of technical accounting role required


Skills and experience:


Functional / Technical Competencies


  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACMA, ACCA)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of financial products and associated accounting models
  • Knowledge of IFRS essential
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and J GAAP useful




  • Undergraduate degree at 2:1 or higher
