THE ROLE

The EMEA Finance team aims to be a strategic partner and advisor in achieving Silicon Valley Bank’s overall mission to increase our clients’ probability of success, supporting all of the Management information (“MI”), business analysis, financial reporting, Financial Control, Treasury and Tax activity for the EMEA division of SVB.   This will be done by delivering greater insights to support decision making and set strategy to protect our business and deliver smart growth.

Silicon Valley Bank is experiencing ongoing growth including expanding into Europe and reorganizing the UK business into a subsidiary. Given this background, EMEA treasury is expanding and we are looking to hire an enthusiastic and growth-oriented Treasury Analyst.

The role will report to, and work alongside, the EMEA Treasury Senior Manager and will help support prudential and operational activities, including helping with Front Office execution, daily cash management and reporting, internal and external stakeholder management, capital and liquidity planning, and risk management for the UK and other EMEA entities as required.

The Treasury Analyst will help support the creation of the UK subsidiary, due in 2021, through assisting with analysis of capital, liquidity, cash and risk management plans as well as helping to develop processes and controls to support the requirements of an expanded business.  The role will provide the individual with the chance to expand their understanding of treasury operations and prudential management in a fast growing and dynamic international bank.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:


The successful candidate will help support:
  • Support the optimization of liquid asset buffer through the analysis of relevant securities markets, building relationships with external market participants, supporting development of investment strategies and securities purchase and sale execution.
  • Daily intraday cash management including maintaining required balances in accounts across 16 currencies and international branches. Daily reporting of cash and liquidity positions to senior officers. Working closely with Commercial Banking and Operations teams to ensure that loans are funded.
  • Ensuring cost effective funding UK and EMEA entities by monitoring various sources including intercompany, cross-currency, deposit and money market funding.
  • Asset and Liability Management including forecasting, analysis of deposit and loan movements and interest rate and FX exposures.
  • Monitoring money markets and recommending investments of surplus nostro balances.
  • Working closely with the Finance team including helping with: day-to-day reconciliation and investigation of treasury related GL accounts; monthly reporting, and broader finance initiatives.
  • Preparing materials for both the EMEA and SVB group Asset/Liability Committees.
  • Developing, updating and enhancing treasury policies and procedures.
  • Keeping abreast of, and evaluating the impact of, regulatory pronouncements as applicable to the UK Branch/SVB as a whole.
  • Building and maintain strong relationships with US stakeholders and colleagues.  

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS



  • Education: Relevant experience and/or business, Maths, Statistics, Economics or Accounting qualification (s).
  • Work Experience:  Solid experience working in a banking/financial services organisation with demonstrable treasury experience. 
  • Understanding of the treasury funding and money-markets, UK commercial banking environment and regulations, and an ability to quickly gain a thorough knowledge of SVB’s bank operations and products.
  • Communications:  The individual must be a confident communicator, including strong written and verbal skills. The individual must be an excellent listener, who works to understand the needs of others.
  • Technical skills:  He/she must have good Excel skills, and ideally experience with Reuters/Bloomberg, and treasury system. Knowledge of accounting systems and basic book-keeping useful. Strong financial modelling and statistics knowledge highly desirable.
