This major listed bank is looking for a Senior Manager to join their established tax reporting team. Increased demands from an internal forecasting perspective as well as developments in legislation have increased the workload on the team and so there is a need to hire. The incoming candidate will need the confidence and commercial acumen to challenge the status quo, taking a holistic approach and identifying opportunities to make existing processes more efficient, designing, driving and implementing change (whether through technology or other), whilst managing the day to day requirements of the role.

Key BAU responsibilities will include:
  • Monthly tax accounting for the main UK company
  • Completion of tax disclosures in the Annual Report and Accounts, including ensuring that controls over the tax reporting process are applied
  • Ownership of other aspects of quarterly reporting for the main UK company, including tax inputs into regulatory filings, review of Return on Tangible Equity calculations and presentation of quarterly tax figures to senior management
  • Ownership of inputs into forecasting processes, including the annual 5-year operating plan, monthly / quarterly forecasts and both external and internal stress tests
  • Provision of ad hoc support and advice to UK Finance with respect to tax matters

Key skills and qualifications include:
  • Qualified accountant and either Chartered Tax Adviser or experience of working in corporate tax
  • Strong IFRS tax accounting knowledge
  • Good communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, including the ability to explain complex issues succinctly to people who are not tax experts
  • Ability to identify need for, and adapt to, process change (including the use of new technology)
