Description of the Business Line or Department
Operations (OPER) in Investment Banking department of Société Générale in UK have a dedicated business line for managing regulatory projects. The UK regulatory project team is in charge of driving the change linked to regulations within SGCIB. The team is looking for a business analyst and coordinator to take part of tax regulatory projects
Within OPER, ROCS/REG is in charge of leading the regulatory projects for the bank and running regulatory processes.
Within ROCS/REG, the OPER/TAX team is under construction to be in charge and coordinate actions to fit the SGIL QI requirements.
Summary of the key purposes of the role
The operational tax analyst will be in charge the QI and US tax operations Information Reporting reporting obligation by:
  • Preparing, reconciling and scrubbing data for US information withholding and reporting
  • Scoping payments of interest, dividends, and FDAP income; applying appropriate withholding rates
  • Issuing Forms 1042-S and 1099 to clients
  • Reconciling Forms 1042-S received from custodians and assisting in the preparation of Form 1042
  • Coordinating the stakeholders and Reporting process
  • Coordinating with central reporting team
The operational tax analyst will ensure the proper QI withholding process by:
  • Maintaining the client tax table
  • Transferring information to withholding agents
  • Managing breaks and underwithholding
  • Coordinating internal withholding process when necessary
Summary of responsibilities
    • Prepare and submit Form 1099, Form 1042-S, Form 1042
    • Ensure the client data with respect to Qualified Intermediary is properly stored
    • Manage cases raised by undocumented clients control (RED) and follow up cases until closure with CLIC/RRD
    • Ensure the proper reporting for SGIL entity
    • Ensure the proper withholding of clients
    • Control daily reconciliation managed by OPER/SEC
    • Setup formal operational controls of key steps in MORSE+
Level of Autonomy and Authority
Medium to high. The Operational tax analyst will be required to organize and prioritize its own workload on different topic, anticipate regulatory deadline to submit reporting on due time, coordinate stakeholders (including external stakeholders).
The OTA will be required to provide regular updates to ROCS/REG U manager and obtain approvals when necessary

Profile Required

Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of Qualified Intermediary and other US tax topics.
  • It will be essential for the Analyst to possess and maintain a good understanding CIB and Clearing activities
  • The Analyst must possess awareness of the underlying investment banking business and trade flows regarding the in scope financial products. These currently include, but are not limited to:
    • Listed Equity Derivatives (Options, Futures, ...)
    • OTC Equity Derivatives (ELS, CFD, DPS, ...)
  • Good communication skills written and verbal
  • Team player
  • Enthusiastic and motivated to improve both themselves and the team
  • Ability to coordinate others
  • Ability to identify and report the critical issues
  • Confident
  • Demonstrates ownership
  • Able to anticipate/forecast critical points and make adjustments to deliver to commitments.
Work experience
Having a previous experience in an operational tax team in financial Institution link to US topics (FATCA, 871m, QI)
A previous experience on Qualified Intermediary will be a plus.
Experience with FATCA and US IRW matters
Knowledge of Italian and French FTT is a plus.
Big 4 or banking experience a plus.

English
