Manage the UK Tax position and risks of the ABN AMRO Group through:
  • Proactively advising and assisting all UK business lines in all tax related matters
  • Ensuring that the UK operates within the Group's tax risk appetite and that a transparent, open relationship is maintained with HMRC
  • Ensuring compliance with all UK filing obligations across all corporate direct and indirect taxes.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with Group Tax and UK business lines
  • Ensuring that the UK Tax function is trusted and respected by all internal and external stakeholders


Your job
The Tax Accountant reports to the UK Tax Manager and Chief Financial Officer. The responsibilities of UK tax are broad due to the UK housing multiple, varied business lines and ABN AMRO UK being part of a wider international group; The UK tax function has responsibility for advising and overseeing the compliance of all UK business lines/legal entities on corporate tax related matters including corporation tax, VAT, WHT and stamp duty, transfer pricing, payroll taxes, banking taxes, operational taxes (CRS), international tax.
  • To assist with all UK tax compliance matters, including VAT returns, corporation tax returns, quarterly instalment payments and PSA returns.
  • To prepare the tax reporting and accounts disclosures of the UK entities.
  • To proactively improve the efficiency around tax reporting wherever this is needed.
  • To undertake work on all ad-hoc projects and transactions as agreed with the UK Tax Manager and Chief Financial Officer.

  • An accountancy and/or tax qualification
  • Practical experience in Corporation Tax/VAT preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Good technical knowledge of UK tax legislation
  • Good knowledge of UK and IFRS accounting regulations
  • Good Excel/PowerPoint skills
  • Alphatax skills
