We seek an enthusiastic Service Engineer to support and deploy all software utilising Winton’s technology stack, with a focus on market data, front office, and middle office operations systems. As a member of the Service Engineering team, you will manage and resolve business critical incidents and develop new monitoring and alerting capabilities alongside the integration of new software and infrastructure.

Winton is a research-led investment management company with a single-minded focus on statistical and mathematical inference in financial markets. Founded in 1997 by CEO David Harding, the firm manages approximately $20 billion of assets for many of the world’s largest pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, banks and fund platforms. The firm’s technology division is fully integrated with and central to research and investment process, while also providing the entire company with software development, business support and operational infrastructure.


Role Description


We seek an enthusiastic Service Engineer to support and deploy all software utilising Winton’s technology stack, with a focus on market data, front office, and middle office operations systems. As a member of the Service Engineering team, you will manage and resolve business critical incidents and develop new monitoring and alerting capabilities alongside the integration of new software and infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be a motivated team player who can help maintain Winton’s technical operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Winton’s technology stack
  • Prioritise, investigate and resolve incidents in accordance with business SLAs
  • Coordinate and deploy software releases
  • Develop and maintain relationships across all business areas
  • Proactively improve our monitoring and alerting abilities
  • Participation in on-call rota

Requirements

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Git
  • Experience managing a production environment
  • Knowledge of monitoring and alerting systems

Preferred

  • Experience working in both Windows Server and UNIX systems
  • Familiarity with modern deployment tools in a cloud-based infrastructure (e.g. AWS/Kubernetes/Azure)
  • Knowledge of data transformation workflows and orchestration tools (e.g. Apache Airflow)
  • Familiarity with C#
