An opportunity now exists within the M&G Prudential Real Estate tax team for the appointment of a Senior Tax Specialist to assist on direct taxes in relation to the Group's Real Estate business, reporting into the Real Estate Tax Manager.

The role primarily covers tax compliance and tax reporting and includes responsibility for a range of direct taxes including corporation tax, partnership tax, non-resident landlord income tax and withholding taxes. The role offers opportunities to gain experience in real estate tax structuring and experience of other tax jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities of the role:
  • Preparation of UK corporation tax and non-resident landlord income tax returns.
  • Assistance with the preparation of the property tax computation and supporting schedules in respect of the Prudential Life Fund's direct and indirect property investments.
  • Preparation of tax reporting outputs during the group reporting process on actuals, forecast and plan as required.
  • Understanding typical fund structures and real estate transactions and how these translate to tax compliance obligations.
  • Assistance with tax reporting and review of overseas tax compliance deliverables in respect of US and Canadian real estate investments.
  • Assistance with overseeing UK partnership tax compliance and investor tax reporting deliverables.
  • Assistance with overseeing the operation and tax filings required under the Non-Resident Landlord Scheme, including monitoring of investor profiles and filing obligations for all M&G Prudential real estate investments. Assisting with other tax compliance obligations as required.
  • Supporting business operational teams regarding maintenance of tax specification of products including the documentation of direct tax compliance processes.
  • Developing an expertise in real estate structures and progressing to oversee the provision of tax advice and structuring support over time.
  • Monitoring of changes in legislation from a direct tax real estate perspective and undertaking tax technical research where required.
  • Developing and maintaining close working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you'll:
  • Be ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified.
  • Have knowledge and experience of direct tax compliance with some prior experience of real estate preferred.
  • Have strong analytical skills. Able to understand, question and challenge a range of financial data
  • Be a self-motivated team player with a diligent and detailed approach to completing tasks and strong project management skills.
  • Be a confident individual with superior oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external parties.
  • Have some familiarity with tax software, One Source.
  • Take a flexible and proactive approach to your work
