Senior Software Engineer - C++/Python- Global News and Market Data Leader

Salary: up to £200k TC

Job Summary

Fantastic opportunity to join a new Data Science Platform team at of one of the world's largest information & market data providers. This team designs and builds infrastructure and tools to ingest data from various asset classes into a PostgreSQL/Citus-based trade store - currently storing over 8 years' worth of data and on average processing more than a million events a day.

Collaborating closely with other engineering teams in the wider Electronic Trading space, you'll take ownership of the full development lifecycle - designing, building and releasing robust, scalable new features without compromising system stability. This is a client-facing, impactful role requiring a real team player, with a passion for new technologies and loves sharing knowledge.

Their tech stack is mostly C++ and Python on Linux (with occasional UI work in Javascript) and you'll be using industry best practice for testing, automation, and CI/CD (CMake, Google Tests, Pytest, Jenkins, Git, etc.).

Requirements

• 8+ years of development experience
• Strong experience in C++, and ideally Python
• Top-notch problem-solving skills
• Experience managing large-scale projects or working with multiple stakeholders simultaneously
• Sound knowledge of industry best practices for testing, automation and CI/CD
• Excellent communication skills at all levels, both technical and non-technical

Desirable

• Familiarity with any of the following: database technologies, e.g. PostgreSQL, Citus, Greenplum; multithreaded apps; or data science frameworks
