The Digital Channels Risk unit is a newly created team within COO Business Risk, aimed to help the Digital Business identify, prevent, manage and remediate their risks. We are building a team of forward-looking, out-of-the-box-thinking risk professionals with an interest in digital innovation and technology that want to improve the way we have traditionally managed risk in banking. You will be joining us at the beginning of the journey and you will have the opportunity to help shape the role and the unit as it grows.


Do you have extensive experience of digital risk management?

If so, we're currently seeking an experienced Senior Risk Partner - Digital Channels to join our team based in London. You'll be responsible for ensuring strong risk management processes and controls are in place for digital risks across the Group and will support both strategic and operational decision-making by providing insight, challenge and support.

Reporting into the Head of Risk - Digital Channels, you'll define and craft the approach to effective risk ownership and action within the business to drive risk reduction and remain within risk appetite. You'll support the definition of the Risk and Control management strategy and practices that will strengthen Digital Channel's performance.

You'll play an active role as a member of the Digital Channels Risk leadership team proactively driving forward the value delivered by the wider team and helping formulate the mid to long term strategy and priorities, working with the business, SME's and other Business Risk teams to design and implement strategic initiatives

You'll lead on innovation, driving forward automation and simplification across the team including controls and reporting, demonstrating continuous learning and self-development.


This newly created role represents an opportunity for a highly motivated colleague and experienced risk leader to work at the heart of the Group's transformation activity. As a Digital Risk, Senior Risk Partner, you'll:
  • Be a transformational leader with an appetite for Risk management, be values led, have a strong track record of delivery
  • Bring a strategic approach to the delivery of risk framework support to the businesses, with an eye on developing the capabilities and skills required for the Bank of the Future
  • Bring a strong problem solving mindset, with an ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders across the business and 3 lines of defence
  • Have the ability to derive business value from risk management, to make good risk decisions, and to drive continuous improvement.
  • Excel in drive, energy, commitment and integrity.
  • Have the ability to simplify processes, successfully identifying the components that add value and challenging the ones that don't.
  • Be flexible and comfortable in changing and evolving environments as well as proactive an independent.

Specialist Knowledge needed:

  • Have a deep understanding of the external environment and threat landscape.
  • Strong knowledge of digital banking and understanding of how traditional risks (legal, compliance, fraud, financial crime, IT, information security, etc.) manifest themselves differently from traditional banking.
  • Experience of delivering/owning a risk management framework.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and delivering positive outcomes for customers.
  • Understanding of digital journeys and experience mapping them, supporting the business to identify report and mitigate risks and controls along the journey.
  • Validating the risk portfolio in an accurate and full representation of the known risk landscape.
  • Primary point of contact (and challenge point) for risk assessments and audits.
  • Ensuring adequate agile but robust governance is in place, including risk escalation and acceptance procedures.
  • Identifying areas of risk and working with the business to develop appropriate controls to address these weaknesses.
  • Build and maintain an appropriate, streamlined control framework for the digital channel. Define appropriate KPIs and MI to guarantee adequacy of the controls in place.
  • Provide holistic insights into the Group Policy Framework.
  • Building positive relationships within different stakeholders within the business and other areas of risk to obtain / exchange information, identify standard methodologies and where appropriate, to respond to changes in the internal and external environment.
  • Driving and developing a culture of continuous improvement in all areas to identify solutions which deliver better risk remediation and mitigation within risk appetite.
