The Snr Internal Auditor will also be responsible for contributing towards Group and subsidiary policies and procedures, liaising with external auditors, ensuring compliance with new and existing legislation and undertaking various investigations and ad hoc projects across the Group under the direction of the HofIA.
This is a high profile role, providing significant exposure to Management. Regulatory, for example PRA, FCA, and MFSA, compliance knowledge is essential. In addition the successful candidate must possess the ability to identify opportunities for improving financial and business processes.
Assist the HofIA in the preparation of an effective Risk Based Internal Audit Plan.
Plan, prepare and execute individual risk based audits and delivery of a high quality audit service. This will include:
o planning the audit, based on the risks associated with that particular review.
o undertaking detailed audit testing and review of processes.
o producing detailed and structured Audit Reports, containing audit objectives, methodology, findings and constructive recommendations for future improvement. The Audit Report will also require Senior Management to provide management responses, agreed action points and dates for implementation.
o follow up on the implementation of agreed action points.
o prepare all working papers for review and approval by the HofIA.
Conducting Financial, Operational, Risk Management and Compliance reviews in line with IIA Standards and local regulatory requirements. Where needed seek assistance from the HofIA.
Review and record actions taken by management to correct conditions reported by audit findings. Determines that actions taken are appropriate for the circumstances or initiates further discussions with appropriate management and staff.
Conduct reviews in relation to Solvency II (or equivalent regulations) to assist the HofIA in providing independent assurance.
Assist the HofIA to perform forensic accounting reviews and investigations as directed by the HofIA.
To assist the HofIA in the preparation of a monthly update paper for the Executive Board & Audit Committee. The paper will include an update on recent audit reviews conducted, and also assurance on
the internal control/ risk management environment across the Group.
Assessing the impact of new guidance relating new financial, insurance related legislation from regulatory bodies and discuss with the Hof.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITY
Strong Accounting background from Top 10 firm of Accountants.
Up to 3 years External/Internal Audit experience of reviewing systems and controls.
3 years minimum experience of working within FS market (insurance related experience preferred but not essential).
Good knowledge of PRA, FCA/ MFSA framework.
Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
Ability to travel up to 10% to 20% of the time.
Experience of writing reports of high standards using MS Office.
Systems & Risk Based Internal Auditing.
Have the ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
EDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE
Graduate and CCAB qualified. Preferably ACA or ACCA or, MIIA with up to 3 years PQE.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams in different geographical locations and appreciate different cultures.
Ability to take constructive feedback on ones work.
