We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst in Regulatory Compliance, Risk and Controls, with specific expertise in MIFID/R, MAR and EMIR Regulations. The role will engage with business and functions across the 1st and 2nd Line, to assess the design of currently implemented controls and define potential enhancements where necessary.

About the role 

  • Work on MiFID/R, MAR specific control assessment/remediation
  • Work with the line of business project teams as well as second line teams to assess control design and assist in escalating identified enhancements to the relevant stakeholders to meet all committed requirements and commercial needs.
  • Conduct data gathering and analysis in order to complete all required regulatory control assessments, ensuring each step is documented appropriately.
  • Validate outcomes of regulatory controls assessments with necessary stakeholders through workshops.
  • Where necessary, support in the design of processes and tools to aide in the completion of regulatory control assessments
  • Assist in the prioritization of remediation items identified through the regulatory assessments.
  • Support in the management and integration of identified remediation/project outputs into ‘business as usual’.
  • Perform Qualitative Review of work performed by other team members to ensure high quality standard of work is achieved throughout the program.
  • Work with project management teams across businesses to define suitable approaches, detailed execution plans and associated reporting on the status of work efforts relative to defined committed deadlines.


Who are we looking for? 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of EU/UK MIFIR/MIFID II, MAR and EMIR.
  • Implemented MIFID/R in large/Tier 1 banks (preferably in Markets businesses) in either 1st line or 2nd line of defence. Also have practical, BAU experience.
  • Has extensive knowledge on transparency and reporting regimes and how they translate into controls.
  • Experience in working in Control Assessment, Internal Audit or Compliance Testing.
  • Experience working within risk areas dealing with regulatory or compliance risk in 1st or 2nd line of defence.
  • Participated in relevant industry forums and monitor changes/developments to relevant EU/UK MIFIR/MIFID II standards and their potential cross-border application.
  • Good understanding of what is a control vs process, knows what a good control looks like
  • Have conducted gap analysis of control environment for regulatory compliance.
  • Able to provide opinion for interpretation of rules based on facts.
  • Develop and/or contribute to the regulation artifacts e.g., Policy, Standards and procedures and oversee implementation.
  • Extreme attention to detail, careful documentation, building audit trail, presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to critically examine data lineage and re-perform the data collation to test the controls substantively.
  • Experience in large scale transformation programs.
  • Experience in risks and controls, particularly in the assessment of control design and implementation of regulatory controls
