Senior Advisor/Advisor, Compliance – Norges Bank Real Estate Management

Norges Bank Real Estate Management is organised as a separate division within Norges Bank Investment Management and is managing the unlisted real estate portfolio of the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global (GPFG).


Norges Bank Real Estate Management is seeking a dedicated and results oriented professional for the position as Senior Advisor in the Compliance group within the Compliance and Control area. Compliance and Control has global responsibility for compliance, operational risk and security including monitoring and control activities.


Your role will be to ensure compliance with external rules and regulations as well as ethical business conduct by our employees. You will have the opportunity to be a part of a dynamic organisation and influence the development of the Compliance area.


The position is in London and you will report to the Compliance Manager in Oslo. Some travel will be required. The on-boarding phase of the employment will likely to be in Oslo.


Main responsibilities:

  • Perform transaction advice and second line activities for the European investments in Norges Bank Real Estate Management
  • Monitor the information barrier towards Norges Bank Investment Management’s listed investment universe
  • Assess and handle inside information
  • Follow up and develop the tax and structuring assurance program
  • Keep abreast of key applicable regulation and global best practices, hereunder contribute to a risk based monitoring program of compliance with external regulations and internal rules
  • Develop and follow up financial crime risks and controls, including ABC, fraud, AML, KYC and sanction programs
  • Second line follow up of European joint venture partners and asset managers
  • Contribute to the framework and implementation of the Conduct of Business policy, including conflict of interest and personal trading handling
  • Contribute to the awareness training programme within the Compliance area
  • Follow up of various day-to-day compliance and second line of defense activities for the London team




Main Qualifications:


  • University degree with strong academic records, preferably in law, audit or business
  • Relevant compliance experience, alternatively from law firms
  • Experience with real estate investments and transactions, as well as high level tax knowledge is considered an advantage
  • Professional certifications will be considered an advantage
  • Structured and accurate with ability to deliver high quality work under time pressure
  • High level of integrity
  • Ambition to excel
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with strong proficiency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in Norwegian is an advantage, but not a requirement.
