Firm profile:         The firm is a multi-strategy hedge fund running over $25bn from offices in New York, London, Hong Kong and Dublin.

 

Background:          The candidate will bring 2-3 years of hedge fund or private equity experience focused on European commercial real estate debt transaction analysis to include mezzanine loans.   The candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to handle complex investments, familiarity with real estate and finance fundamentals, an ability to efficiently prioritize tasks, as well as excellent modeling and communication skills.  The candidate will have to be able to work alone and cover a lot of ground in research and review of investment ideas.  Language skills very beneficial.

 

Responsibilities: 

The hire will join the Distressed team in London focused on opportunities within the commercial real estate (CRE) and real estate related spaces.  The investment mandate is flexible with a focus on distressed and underappreciated opportunities, including debt instruments in the secondary market (public bonds, whole loans, mezzanine debt, loan portfolios, etc), corporate restructurings, asset acquisition, and some special situations lending. The candidate will report to two senior members of the real estate team based in London, and work alongside another two associates.   The role requires the analyst/associate to work with the senior team to shepherd investment ideas from inception to completion, including post-investment monitoring.  Responsibilities vary by project, but will range from sourcing screening and underwriting investment ideas (analyzing, researching, modeling, and presenting) to monitoring such opportunities post-acquisition and helping to manage restructurings, enforcements, insolvencies and bilateral workouts.  Additionally, the analyst/associate will be expected to stay current on industry trends and maintain working models for selected companies/properties. 

 

Key skills:

  • Extensive experience undertaking analysis of real estate debt transactions in an investment or private equity environment
  • 2-3 years of hedge fund or private equity experience focused on European commercial real estate debt transaction analysis, including mezzanine loans
  • Experience of handling complex investments and must have familiarity with real estate and finance fundamentals
  • Excellent financial analysis and modelling skills
  • Competent and experienced user of Bloomberg and Factset experience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Able to efficiently prioritize tasks

 

Educational requirements

  •          Post graduate qualification in Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Finance & Investment or related field
  •          Undergraduate degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or related field – minimum 2:1
