Department Criteria

The Global Corporate Technology Reference Data Services team is responsible for setting the strategy, developing and supporting systems used for reference data management and provision across all business lines. Core areas of reference data coverage include client data, instrument data, book data, pricing data, and corporate action data, as well as the internal access controls around this data.

The team interacts with a wide range of internal clients across the organisation, including Operations, Front Office, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Risk, and all other areas requiring reference data, providing pragmatic and strategic solutions. The current team consists of approximately 150 people, split across London, Mumbai, New York, Tokyo and Singapore, providing subject matter expertise, functional and development capacity.

Role / Principle Accountabilities:

Nomura is seeking a hybrid IT Release Manager to join the Reference Data Technology team. As Release Manager, the candidates will:

  • Forward Plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio
  • Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases aredelivered on time
  • Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews and business go/no-go reviews
  • Produce deployment, run book and implementation plans
  • Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required
  • Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities
  • Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
  • Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks


Qualifications Required

Skills - Essential

  • Ability to manage complex programme plans, ideally in an investment banking environment, across projects related to reference data
  • Full software development lifecycle experience
  • Understanding of front to back reference data flows and the trade lifecycle
  • Strong stakeholder management and structured communication skills
  • Ability to manage a pipeline of releases across a number of platforms concurrently

Skills - Desirable

  • Familiarity of key components of the technology stack including database technologies, messaging standards and APIs, application frameworks and programming languages, etc
  • Familiarity with DevOps processes and practices, including Agile/Lean, CI, CD

Knowledge - Essential

  • Experience working within a multi-region environment including off shore delivery teams
  • Experience of e2e project / programme management / Technical analysis within Financial Industry
  • Understanding of Instrument reference data

Knowledge - Desirable

  • Experience of working in an "in-house" reference data team, or on the implementation of a reference data application
  • Exposure to vendors and vendor products in the reference data domain (e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters, Markit, etc.)
