Our client, a prestigious International Bank based in the West End are looking to recruit a Corporate Banking Relationship Director. The Corporate Banking team in London is involved in the sourcing of value enhancing transactions for the bank that tie in with other business units including Structured Trade Finance, Financial Institutions, Correspondent Banking, Private Banking and Treasury.

The client profile will be in line with the strategy for the bank as outlined from time to time and will require an element of Middle Eastern interaction (and by preference UAE). This element can either be through trade or capital flows and deviation from this point will only be allowed on an ad hoc basis by senior management sign off as outlined in the risk appetite statement.


As Senior Relationship Director Corporate Banking, the incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Actively marketing the bank to the relevant client base as outlined from time to time in the risk appetite statement for Wholesale Banking;
  • Identify opportunities and seek approval for credit limits on a cradle to grave principle with the relevant approval authority within the bank;
  • Manage and monitor existing credit exposure against deterioration issue (both market and client specific elements);
  • Support and complete the documentation progress through the dedicated documentation team;
  • Source relevant information where available from clients and third party information providers to feed into the credit analyst;
  • Provide feedback to all relevant parties who are involved in the credit process together with the credit analyst;
  • Providing support as and when required by Head of Wholesale Banking;
  • Source relevant additional client names where applicable;

To be considered for this position ideal candidates must have the following experience/knowledge;

  • At least 10 years Corporate banking Experience
  • Experience and contacts within at least 2 relevant categories of clients (i.e. commodity traders, contractors or exporters);
  • Positive attitude and ability to be flexible within the context of a small set up
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (additional languages are a plus)
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills
  • Academic degree in relevant subject matter(s) or qualification such as ACIB
  • Ability to work on own initiative and ability to prioritise work
  • Accurate organized individual, flexible and happy to undertake any task in support of the team members and thus the client
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
