Role Overview

Reporting into the Head of Capital Markets for Real Estate Europe in Brookfield, the role offers the opportunity to work directly with a wide range of real estate portfolio companies controlled by Brookfield including Center Parcs, Student Roost, Canary Wharf, SACO and other European investments held within Brookfield’s opportunistic private equity funds.  The role will assist with the strategic decision making, investment activities, transaction execution and reporting activities of real estate companies owned by Brookfield Property Group and the BSREP II and BSREP III series of opportunity funds. Brookfield’s active oversight portfolio companies, specifically in regard to major investment, divestment and financing decisions. The successful candidate will require regular interaction with both senior management of portfolio companies and senior leadership of Brookfield Property Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the execution process of financings and debt capital markets transactions for various investments made by the funds within BPG Europe and its portfolio companies.
  • Managing and overseeing the various financing activity within the portfolio companies of BPG Europe.
  • Preparation of marketing materials and RFP’s for financing transactions.
  • Manage the RFP process and facilitate information exchange between the banks and internal asset/portfolio management and M&A teams
  • Assist in putting together the bank/lender clubs and the placement of debt as required for various financing transactions.
  • Review and negotiate term sheets and legal documentation with the lenders, as part of the execution of the financings.
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of all debt capital markets related reports for internal reporting and semi-annual presentations to the senior members of BPG.
  • Create and manage various data bases of BPG’s exposure to various banks
  • Actively manage existing banking relationships and help in the business development of creating new banking relationships.

Technical Skills

  • Excellent analytical, financial modelling and valuation skills, ideally with a real estate and/or corporate focus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Project planning and self-management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is essential.
  • Fluency in German, Spanish, French or another European language is an asset.
  • Proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Prior experience in Investment banking or real estate private equity will be a plus
