ROLE SUMMARY

As Product Owner you will embed yourself within a Product team that is charged with creating and enhancing products aimed at making IG the default way to trade for active traders.

You will enhance products from existing ideas and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience, internal thinking and your contact with customers and prospects. You must enjoy immersing yourself in a product to understand its strengths and its weaknesses in order to drive positive change.

You will work day to day with technical teams and liaise closely with other business areas. You will be at the forefront of delivery and be the driving force behind project and product delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Development

  • Champion the product.
  • Work closely with product manager and Group Lead to define the strategy and roadmap for product.
  • Be the driving force behind the delivery of projects and product developments.
  • Contribute to project priority decisions.
  • Incorporate client feedback and internal feedback to continually improve products.
  • Identify trends and issues and find suitable solutions.
  • Ensure a suitable go-to-market plan is in place for all promotable product releases.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape to ensure that products are ahead of the competition where possible.
  • Continually monitor key metrics for live products and projects to assess the success and suggest optimisations.
  • Promote a culture of innovation & collaboration.


Agile Scrum Development
  • Fulfil Scrum Product Owner role for assigned development teams.
  • Maintain and prioritise product backlog.
  • Ensure that user stories are written suitably to deliver true business value and contribute to acceptance criteria.
  • Attend Backlog planning, Sprint Planning, daily Stand Ups, Sprint Demos and Sprint Retrospectives.
  • Ensure interested stakeholders are invited to relevant demos.
  • Steer and guide the work, answer questions on a daily basis.
  • Produce, maintain, and communicate a Team Roadmap.


Project Management
  • Lead and inspire a project team to deliver high quality products.
  • Gather and document requirements for new projects and product enhancements.
  • Manage projects within product area ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Manage dependencies across other business teams.
  • Create and maintain project information in Confluence including status updates, project documents, and project timeline.
  • Maintain project information in JIRA.
  • Contribute to risk analysis.
  • Define success metrics.
  • Perform post project analysis and widely distribute results
  • Provide user training and user manuals as needed
  • Hold development teams to account for delivery estimates


Request Management
  • Monitor and process requests from the business.
  • Approve or Reject requests as appropriate.
  • Manage the delivery of requested work keeping requestors and stakeholders frequently informed.
  • Include detail of completed requests in Release Notes.


Communication
  • Communicate priorities and future direction of product area to the wider business.
  • Ensure senior management are consulted, and agree to priorities / roadmaps
  • Distribute insightful data pertaining to product launches and existing products and features.
  • Prepare Release notes ahead of changes to their product area
  • Manages stakeholders and their interests proactively


EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in gathering requirements for large IT projects.
  • Experience in writing documents to a high standard.
  • Experience in managing relationships with senior level stakeholders.
  • Experience in Product Ownership in a Financial Product-related field.
  • Good understanding of software development lifecycle.
  • Financial trading experience desirable.
  • Process Modelling experience desirable.
