APT Overview:

APT provide investment risk and portfolio construction services and solutions to investment management firms, pension funds and hedge funds. APT's multi-asset class factor model and best of breed simulation and analytics engine allow our customers to:
  • Report risk information to management, clients, and regulators
  • Understand risk across all asset classes, including unlisted assets
  • Measure and monitor risks associated with any market position or portfolio
  • Model and attribute portfolio risks to make better management, trading and hedging decisions
  • Aggregate risk across the enterprise to identify systematic factors and risk concentrations
  • Construct portfolios based upon risk profiles and factor exposures obtained through careful exposure analysis and pre-trade what-if scenarios and simulation
  • Stress-test portfolios against a variety of historical and forward-looking scenarios
  • Optimize and backtest portfolios and strategies using quantitative techniques such as mean-variance analysis, subject to a variety of linear and non-linear constraints

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will be joining a leading vendor of software solutions and services for the asset management industry. As a result of the growth in the overall business, we are looking for a domain specialist to act as a product manager for our market risk management and portfolio construction offering.

The product manager will be responsible for leading and directing the future direction of APT's product portfolio by championing the overall product roadmap and by directing individual development initiatives the entire development lifecycle, from conceptualisation to launch.

To achieve this goal, the candidate will initiate discussion externally with clients and prospects as well as internally with the teams in order to build and present a product strategy for the APT business.

You will be responsible and accountable for the following tasks:
  • Develop a strategic product/solution/technology roadmap with decision-making including integration opportunities to expand the platform solution set
  • Design requirement specifications based on feedback received from the market, as well as functional specifications to define what the new product or feature does
  • Direct and supervise a team of Business Analysts and Junior Product Managers and coordinate development projects across development teams and business units
  • Contribute to pricing and marketing plans as well as costing for custom development projects
  • Make decision on release and manage the full product lifecycle (launch, evolution etc.)
  • Remain current on industry initiatives, regulatory changes, and market trends effecting our clients' business as well as competitive messaging
  • Participate in relationships with key clients and prospects, business partners, industry organizations and competitors for market intelligence purposes
  • Act as thought leader and a key partner to the industry analysts, consultants, partners and, trade press by conducting briefings, speaking engagements, interviews, publishing white papers, and presenting at FIS events
Essential Skills:
  • In-depth understanding of the asset management industry, its challenges, opportunities, and make-up across the various different types of investment firms and functions
  • Specialist understanding of market risk concepts including factor modelling, simulation models and scenario analysis/stress testing
  • Strong understanding of portfolio optimization techniques and their practical applications
  • Broad multi-asset class knowledge across equities, fixed income, credit, fx and commodities
  • Good understanding of the structured product universe used within the private wealth space
  • Proven experience of working with a vendor of financial software
  • Capacity to work within the demands of a fast-moving, busy environment
  • Strong understanding of the product development cycle
  • Good business acumen and business flair
  • Creative and self-starting with demonstrated initiative
  • Ability to influence and negotiate
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team player but also able to work autonomously
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of all Microsoft packages essential
  • This position will require some travel to global locations
Desirable Skills
  • The successful candidate should be familiar with agile product management techniques and demonstrated success as a product owner
  • Experience using strategic product management tools such as Aha! as well as software development tools such as JIRA would be advantageous
  • Experience in pre-sales situations would be advantageous as the candidate will have a strong link with the pre-sales and sales function in their capacity as a product specialist
