Nomura's Global Markets Division handles client transactions for financial institutions, corporates, governments and investment funds around the world. We act as market makers, trading in fixed income and equity securities, including currencies, interest rates and credit in cash, derivatives and structured products. Role description

  • Oversee Nomura's hedge fund stock loan relationships for EMEA based clients as well as assisting in the sourcing of inventory and financing of long positions
  • Proactively understand and discuss with clients key drivers of the business across all Hedge Fund strategies (Macro, Equity and Corporate Arbitrage, Long/Short etc.) and proprietary strategies (Structured Arbitrage, Tender Arbitrage etc.)
  • Coordinate and liaise daily with a variety of desks across Global Markets including Repo, Client Services, Operations, Middle Office, Treasury etc
  • Transact using instruments including, but not limited to, Stock Loan, Repo and synthetic solutions.
  • Conduct regular client calls to increase Nomura's visibility and share of wallet across the full suite of products, including clients based in continental Europe
  • Work closely with lenders in the sourcing of hard to borrow names including rights, tender and directional
  • Source financing transactions, including Repo financing Cross Currency Trades and collateral upgrades
  • Fully understand the firm's liquidity framework and work closely with Treasury to ensure trading activities compliment this
  • Work proactively with trading counterparties to ensure the collateral parameters employed enable proprietary and client inventory to be deployed efficiently
  • Promote and conduct any other appropriate financing business with clients, such as distribution of assets and structured financing solutions etc
  • Help design and build trading tools designed to enhance efficiency and exploit market opportunities
  • The team is responsible for ensuring all Firm and client demand is covered, as well as providing financing solutions guided by the firm's liquidity framework, across asset class, using instruments such as Repo, Stock loan and TRS

Skills required

  • Deep prior experience working with hedge funds in an equity finance/ prime brokerage role a must
  • Confident, organised and self-motivated - ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines a must
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Can think on their feet, be proactive and spot opportunities to make money
  • Able to leverage a relationship to its full potential
  • Candidate needs to have good analytical skills
  • Easily personable with colleagues and clients
