An Amsterdam based private equity backed corporate is seeking a Dutch Analyst / Associate for the Mergers & Acquisitions team.

The Opportunity

A strong communicator with great analytical skills who can manage stakeholders at all levels. You will help the company to execute on its growth ambitions to become a more sustainable, long- term enterprise and in doing so create meaningful value for the Company’s shareholders.  

This role entails being responsible for assisting in the research, analysis and execution of merger & acquisition opportunities. The position is within a small core M&A team and provides the opportunity to work directly on transactions from deal sourcing, all the way through execution and integration.  

As an M&A Analyst you will have the opportunity to work with Senior Executives at the company on tasks such as surveying the landscape of various  industries and markets, developing the Company’s acquisition pipeline, and evaluating specific inorganic opportunities. In addition the role requires close interaction with the Private Equity and Operating teams from the majority stakeholder of Staples Solutions. 

 Your team 

You will be a part of the M&A team consisting of 3 top-level professionals. 

Your activities 

The Associate will work closely with senior professionals and receive significant deal evaluation and execution responsibility. Typical responsibilities include: 

Supporting investment teams throughout the due diligence of new investment opportunities and the deal execution process, including:

  • Building financial models and valuation analysis
  • Conducting company and industry due diligence
  • Preparing internal investment committee memoranda
  • Negotiating legal documentation

Working with legal, financial, and commercial advisors on process management, diligence, structuring, and negotiations

Working closely with the management team in assessing business strategy, evaluating add-on investments and assessing opportunities in new and existing markets.  

Your Profile 

You have 2-3 years of working experience at a top-tier investment bank and exceptional academic achievement with an undergraduate degree from a top academic institution. Experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate mergers and acquisitions, consulting or transaction advisory services would be viewed preferentially. You are a self-starter with the ability to operate effectively with limited supervision and you have a high level of professional maturity and a solid work ethic. Besides, you have exceptional analytical and problem solving skills as well as strong modelling skills. You have strong leadership,  interpersonal, management, organizational, and communication skills and you have attention to detail. An ability to fit into a small team and high demanding work environment is key and you have excellent English communications skills, both verbal and written.
