Description of the Business Line or Department - Summary of the business, coverage, services
Global Broker-Dealer Services (GBDS) is a service which brings together banking services, securities operations processing and post-trade capabilities in a large scale, best of breed platform aligned to Institutional Brokers and investment banks. At the core of this service is the GBDS Client Services Team (CST). This proactive operational service team, based in SGSS London for UK clients, becomes an extension of our clients' set up and is the primary entry point for all operational and service requirements.
 
The role will require to work as part of a small responsible, qualitative team based in the UK which is at the forefront of SGSS delivering a market differentiating solution, via best in class client servicing. The leadership, people, proactive style and focus on putting the client first will make up the essence of the CST and its service proposition.
 
The CST will be providing services and functions that, in some cases, will have previously been undertaken by the broker themselves. The team is expected to be the only point of contact between SGSS and the broker and to maintain a seamless interface between the broker, APTP our principal supplier and SG support and control functions.
 
The CST will sit within the Securities Banking Operations (SBO) business unit of SGSS in the UK.
The incumbent will work closely with a number of key internal SGSS stakeholders – including Sales, Product, Segment, Securities Banking Operations (SBO), Shared Services Operations (SSO), and Chief Administration Officer (CAO), to ensure that the expected level of service is delivered to clients and prospects in an effective, controlled and profitable manner.

Summary of the key purposes of the role - Summary of the key objectives and primary goals (minimum 3)
* Direct contact between Equity Broker dealers and SGSS on trade related issues
* Provide a high standard of support and control for Broker Dealer
* Participate in relevant pre-sales work with CML teams as required
* Advise clients in an operational capacity as required
* Manage & mitigate risks related to the activity (operational risks, regulatory risks ...etc).
* Project delivery

Team: Global Broker Dealer Services
:- The GBDS Client Service Team provides Middle Office and Operational support to  Broker Dealers (our client) who outsource its operational process to SGSS
* Fist line of contact and face of SGSS with our broker dealer partners & outsource providor
* Provide a high standard of support and control in support of our clients
* Promote a continuous-improvement ethos within team and suppliers (continue to review and question the validity of processes and functions within the team to ascertain whether processes should be automated in current form, or re-engineered.  (Question processes!)
* Provision of proactive -‘front foot' type – relationship management and client servicing for the GBDS offering
* Advise clients in an operational capacity as required
* Transaction monitoring, lifecycle and event management
* Client reporting and management information generation
* In the context of the provision of service delivery, be the principal interface with relevant SG control and support functions
* Manage & mitigate risks related to the activity (operational risks, regulatory risks ...etc).
* Oversee and escalate critical incidents, leading to appropriate rapid resolution


Level of Autonomy and Authority - Define the autonomy of the role and what the job holder can authorise and make decisions on - If applicable
The role will be integral to our GBDS offering and will be expected to operate within the Global SGSS and SG London Branch (SGLB) constraints


Profile:

Competencies - Define a minimum of 10 skills and technical  knowledge that are essential for the Job holder to have
·         Fluent English is essential
·         Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
·         Detailed understanding of the UK institutional broker space, operating models and trends
·         Good knowledge of financial products and investment strategies
·         Self motivated and the  ability to work for long periods unsupervised
·         Good Project Management skills:
* Equity products and settlement processes in European Equity & FI markets is key

* Experienced Equity Operational background with a strong understanding of Middle Office, Settlement & Clearance roles
* A proven track records of service management and delivery with-in an Operational background.
* Some experience of broker dealer outsourced service provision would be beneficial but not essential

* Strong knowledge of operational process, Clearing & Settlements, Finance & Margins, Asset servicing and Middle Office CRM.
* Knowledge of Gloss

* Experience of working with and outsourced service provider or for a outsourced service provider
* Minimum 10 years experience of settlement & Clearing service processes across European markets,
* Experience of working in a major Investment bank either in Operations or Middle-office
* Knowledge of Cash Equities
* Proven track record of documenting & implementing change
* Claims management
* Treasury and Funding management
* Management level, minimum 3 years experience of working in a Management role with oversight for Staff, Operational and control processes
* Asset servicing

·         Understanding of UK & Ireland (SDRT) is essential
* Degree entry,  Ideally in one of the following but not essential:Business , Finance, Accounting
